A Sonnet to Tammy

Tammy chose us in the pet shop, squealing,
Until we went to the cage and looked in.
To win our hearts she stood upright, begging,
With her intense gaze, she was bound to win.
We took her home to join our family.
Each evening she came indoors to play,
She would sit on our laps, watching TV,
Preferred our settee to sleeping in hay!
She could spring into the air like a rat,
To land safely on sofa, chair or bed.
When she had companions, it must be said,
She took command, even mastered our cat!
With snow white fur and silver-grey crown,
She was a guinea pig of great renown.
