Excellent! I hear the book is a lot better than the film, but i haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

Yeah! And i'm a winner, but i'm on prescription medication. So, i guess there are exceptions to the rule.

Thank you for the compliments! I wasn't particularly impressed with A Clockwork Orange after hearing so much about the film, but i'm probably too desensitised to violence anyway. I'm sure the book is a lot better!

I love this so much because I am a massive fan of the old ultraviolence! So much, I wrote a piece of coursework on it 8DD

So is Droog the name of a character? Anyway, I really should see that...

The main character's name is Alex, but the people he hangs around with (i.e. his lackeys) are called 'Droogs'.

It's one of those cult British films that doesn't get a huge amount of play outside of Britain (and sometimes America); sort of like how Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert was a really popular Australian film, but it wasn't accepted in the same way outside of Australia. Also, the film was really popular when it came out for it's ultraviolence - which was really shocking back then, but now it's not really as big a deal.

Mmm, apparently it's also pretty psychological... but then again, I've read a plot synopsis and some themes seem like they've been worked to death after it brought them up...

I think the impact of a lot of what was being said was greater back in the days when it wasn't being said a lot. For instance, it's pretty commonplace to see excessively violent films on the market, but back then it was a new experience; sort of how 3D in films is a big thing at the moment, but in ten years the market may well be saturated with it.

You're spot on. It's a combination of the classic video game quote 'Winners Don't Use Drugs' (from American arcade game intro in the mid 90's), and Alex's minions, the Droogs, in A Clockwork Orange.
