Description

The Athena class transport, a nuclear sail-powered high speed transport that represents the top in comfortable space travel.

Using an onboard supply of fission/fusion bombs, it is able to accelerate to a cruising speed of 5000km/s, being able to carry crew from earth to Neptune in as little as 12 days, or to Eris in less than 35. The spacecraft contains a set of four high power magnetoplasmadynamic thrusters for fine orbit control and maneuvers without using its nuclear bomb supply, powered by the forward 40MW reactor.

Whenever better fusion technology is developed, ships like these will be remembered much like how the old humans remembered Ocean Liners, as old and nostalgic, yet elegant ships.
