Description bernkastel_01.jpg
It was a fairly pleasant night in the city of Salem, Massachusetts, albeit a little chilly. The stars shone in the sky above, a certain light haze drifting in the sky, dimming the light of the astral bodies slightly. Cars whizzed around on the streets, just streaks of light as the wind blew above the building tops. However, the vehicles and people started to slow as the ground started to shake softly, gradually getting more intense; in the middle of a park, there sat a black cat with a purple ribbon on its tail, people looking in confusion as it seemed to be increasing in size, a purple aura surrounding the cat. It kept growing, large enough to where people were like mice to it, but it didn't pounce on anything moving at all, its tail swaying idly as it slammed into park benches and trees. Suddenly, the purple aura expanded with a burst of wind, forcing anyone looking to flinch in shock. As the aura died down, people stared in further confusion as the cat had seen a change in form into a girl in a black and white dress, long purple hair reaching down to her waist. However, as the cat was, she was giant, and still growing, looking down at the city as she tapped her foot on the ground, the black mary-janes she's wearing pushing aside trees in the park, people running from the growing girl; however, the on her face was hard to tell, one of boredom and disinterest as she observed the people running, staring down at them with her empty eyes.

"So pathetic, aren't you all? Before me, Bernkastel, the Witch of Miracles, you're all just less than pebbles in my shoe...." She blinked, not showing any interest in the bugs running from her growing mary-janes, her tail continuing to sway around beneath her dress. As she stood there, growing taller until the surrounding buildings only came halfway up her shoes, huge shards of what appeared to be ice started to appear around her, all of different sizes as they orbited around the witch, almost like she was the Sun and they were planets... The people stared in awe, thinking they saw reflections of people and places in the flat surfaces of the fragments every now and then, falling to their knees before the girl as she stopped growing, thinking of her as a goddess and praying to her. However, Bernkastel didn't care that the people only now through of her as a goddess; she didn't need them to tell her of her greatness.

The massive witch lifted her foot up, shaking the ground from just that as dirt and stone fell from the bottom of her shoes, before slamming her foot down on an entire building, no interest showed on her face from the pathetic resistance it put up as the shards appeared gradually around her with a soft flash. The goddess witch put her hand on her hip, staring down at the worms on the ground before her, lifting her other foot as she started to walk forward, stomping down intentionally on any buildings unfortunate enough to find themselves shadowed by her mary-janes. Bernkastel's hair blew softly in the wind as the haze mixed and lingered in the sky, the moonlight and starlight casting such a beautiful light on her and her kakera orbiting around her. She extended her hand, sending forth some of the massive crystalline shards, which flew through the air with a deafening roar, impaling and crushing people and buildings, the smallest of them being no smaller than a house. The witch Bernkastel proceeded to decimate the pathetic city of Salem, no one able to escape the fragments of other worlds used as simple projectiles by the massive witch. Of course, one city wouldn't be enough, the gigantic girl catching a glimpse of another city not too far off....

===========

Well then, this is my first MMD image that I've made! I'm rather excited to become a visual content producer, as I've always thought that it would be hard; however, the program isn't that difficult to work with, and I think my first picture has come out quite well, having gone with a PoV perspective. I really hope to get better at making images, but I still believe my forte is in my writing. I have my good friend PachiPachy for introducing and helping me learn the program, as she really tried to help me~. <3

In my first image, I've featured the Witch of Miracles, Frederica Bernkastel. Constantly described as near a goddess when compared to the normal humans, Bernkastel has a very cold and emotionless front, and is cruel, manipulative, and selfish on the inside. The shards of ice (kakera) seen here are one of her forms of attack, summoning fragments of alternate worlds and manipulating them for her own gain, even using them as projectiles.

She's from a visual-novel/anime that is a favorite of mine, Umineko no Naku Koro ni (When the Seagulls Cry), which is the semi-sequel to its more popular predecessor, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When the Cicadas Cry). Sadly, relative obscurity of Umineko means that there aren't that many models available for public use/download, and the ones that are out there are of... questionable quality. I really wish to find some models of the other characters though, as the cast is very diverse and interesting, as well as having plenty of attractive girls~.

Please leave a comment, saying what you think and such, even if it's constructive criticism! Feel free to comment on either the picture of the story, but I prefer if you comment on both~. Also, share this with your friends, if you like!

the lines in black, you can do this with view(V)>thickness of edge line(E)

Oh, so like make her outlines thicker? I toned them down to 0.5 as opposed to 1, but here are alternates at 1.0, 1.5, 2.0~. www.dropbox.com/sh/dxof0bcaa2wā€¦

CatadioptricTrap In reply to KeisukeSumire [2014-01-25 20:55:58 +0000 UTC]

Ah, alright~. I wasn't sure how I should handle outlines. I thought I should have at least a thin one, to define edges, but I'm not sure. I know like her hand looked like a blob of flesh and the kakera looked unidentifiable, but that was before I played with the lighting (To make it look moonlit) and added the MMEfects stuff. I'll play around in the future with it, thanks for your feedback~.

That's good to hear! Always nice to meet someone else who knows about Umineko, as it's tragically obscure....

Well congrats on your first image, and I'll have to agree with Pachi, for a "beginners first picture" this is of surprisingly good quality (better than a few silly images I have on my HDD from when I first toyed with the program)

Thank you very much~. Though, teeeechnically it's not my first image, I did two other silly things right before hand that was really just playing with sliders to see what they do; one for posing bones, and another for posing faces. I suppose I can upload those to my Scraps section, because why not~.

Wow, it turned out too good to be a first <3

Actually, sorry to disappoint but I'm in fact male.
We just like to refer each other as she because we tend to roleplay as female characters often.

I'm quite impressed and rather surprised how well the picture turned out, for someone who's only getting started with MMD, definitely have potential~

Thanks, you made the program seem less scary~. I will say, it probably did help a little bit that I picked an emotionless character for my first image, but I still posed the eyes a little bit. (For some reason, the model's normal eyes look very wide open and curious...)
