Description Yarr, the best part about Pyramids was the Assassin's exam. Basically, if you live, you pass. If you pass, you get the official Licence to Kill. And you get $10,000. If you die, they'll pry it out of your cold stiff hands and give it to the next person to take the test.

Glod: If your shroud doesn't have pockets, you need another tailor.

It's an assassin from Discworld, which totally owns the Assassin's Creed assassins.

Because they're from Discworld!!!! Nuff said!
Um, what the book says is extremely awesome:

'We do not murder,' he said. It was a soft voice; the doctor never raised his voice, but he had a way of giving it the pitch and spin that could make it be heard through a hurricane.
'We do not execute. We do not massacre. We never, you may be very certain, we never torture. We have no truck with crimes of passion or hatred or pointless gain. We do not do it for a delight in killing, or to feed some secret inner need, or for petty advantage, or for some cause or belief; I tell you, gentlemen -
'No, we do it for the money. And, because we above all must know the value of a human life, we do it for a great tdeal of money. There can be few clearer motives, so shorn of all pretence. "Nil mortifi, sine lucre". Remember. No killing without payment.'
He paused for a moment.
'And always give a receipt,' he added.

I knew that would be your reason! The comical appeal!

That's actually quite an interesting passage. How do you put a value on human life? But I love the end, a reciept haha.

Yeah, and the Assassins Guild school runs just like a British boarding school, with houses and prefects and dorm rooms and everything! The main character is in Viper House. They have names like Scorpion House, Cobra, Mantis, and Black Widow and Raven for the girls. Coz Housemates share dorms, and you can't have teenage boys and girls in the same room.

It's hard to put a value on human life - so that's why the Assassins set their fees so high. In Ankh-Morpork (the big city where they live, like a mix of Renaissance Florence, London, and New York) a full restaurant meal costs 10c, rent is a dollar a week, and a good day wage is 50c. Their price on Santa is $3million. 0_0

Of course; it's Discworld!!!!

They all have to wear uniform till their 3rd year where they can choose whatever they want (as long as it's black and stylish), and it's funny because students who get scholarships or charity cases have to wear different colored pants. It means the paying students know who to pick on.

DISCWORLD IS AWESOME!

Black and stylish! And cool haircuts! Wow, there's like this practicality and realistic thing in Discworld that I just love the sound of.

Cool everything, if you're an assassin.
They all have mirrors in the rooms, and have to climb out the window because assassins aren't supposed to use the stairs. Everyone has to be practial and realistic in Ankh-Morpork, the Discworld's biggest city. Even though really crazy stuff happens around them, like a dragon attack or the invention of movies.

"Ankh-Morpork is a fictional city-state which prominently features in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series of fantasy novels. As cities go, it is on the far side of corrupt and polluted, and is subject to outbreaks of comedic violence and brouhaha on a fairly regular basis. Ankh-Morpork is also the mercantile capital of the Discworld, and the books give a flavour of a nonetheless "working" quasi-medieval city, despite criticisms by many people (including its own inhabitants); even when it is under attack from a dragon, the vegetable carts still have to come in. It is also home to Unseen University, a centre of magical learning."

Why can't you read them? The books are really small. Until #20 or so where they make the font size twice as big for some reason. I asked on the offical fan site and they said it was because the readers were getting older.

They say to start at book 8, and I have that one!
It's really funny - they include lots of punning, references, and nods to writing cliches.

It makes me sad that there's a girl in my English class that has never finished a novel.
She calls them "chapter books"!! D:

Chapter books?

cathyOMG In reply to lollies-pop [2010-10-26 07:52:28 +0000 UTC]

It's the term teachers use in 4th grade.
CHAPTER BOOKS. D:<

Discworld books aren't even chapter books, because they have no chapters!!! AHAAHAHHH!!!
Why you have been avoiding them? I only avoid books if they're for school; books I read for fun have to be good, and if they're not, I dump and run.
I can't stand sitting through terrible fiction.

Oh yeah! I remember those. They were usually Aussie Bites when I was in primary school.

Ah, terrible fiction is where it takes me like a year to read the book.

What are Aussie Bites? It sounds like a type of food.
I never read terrible fiction. If I get a book to read on my own time, and it turns out to be horrible, poorly written crap, I just stop reading. There's no point in wasting my time if I could be doing something much more entertaining.
I hate it when the school chooses horrible books to read. Then I have to force myself through it.
I didn't like Emma. >
