Description I little project o been working on since 2015. It took me 2 tries to build ( the first one was destroyed so i needed to start fresh with new paper). I studied a lot of cobra pics and made about more than 20 experimental builds of different parts of the snake, trying different builds and different kinds of paper, to make it as lifelike and strong as possible . Unfortunately i had to use glue for this one , its too massive to hold on its own , conclusion that i made from my first try to build it.Β

It has 7625 pieces 1/32 and 95 pieces 1/65. Its 47 cm wide and 60 cm high.

Edit:
WoW i never expected so many comments . When i left the last time i had 20 views and no comments , weeks after it exploded. Thank you all for the kind words !
I have a second picture of the back side of the snake that posted here .

Hi.
Hallucinatory. An exceptional work and with a spectacular result. Would a tutorial of this great work be possible?

Hey

Thank you

I am sorry unfortunately it is not possible , it took too much time to build and i didn't write any record how i built it (I did at first but i changed it so many times so i just gave up ).

It will take a lot of time, luxury that i don't have at the moment.

i used different technique for the back side (Gray ) and the front sideΒ  , Just its not your regular tube . Without going into detail , just use less pieces on one side than the other , and bend it carefully .

Wow, Β for me 200 pieces is equal to 6 hours, how much time did you put in this? IT'S AMAZING *.*Β

Do you have any tips to create 3D Origami without using tutorials?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Catstrosity In reply to Agiaht [2017-06-18 17:26:57 +0000 UTC]

It took so long not because of the number of pieces , it took so long because of the design. I made 2000 more pieces more that i needed . Besides for the first build i made the same amount , so its 15000 pieces in total .Β  Β
Actually i do have tips
A: Get a paper cutter board , it will make your life a lot easier .
B: In order not to get frustrated because the amount of pieces you should fold. I use the trinity method .
Β Β Β  1: using a cutting board cut the paper into strips . for example you can get 4 strips from standard A4 paper
Β Β Β  2: cut the strips into rectangles . you should get 8 piecesΒ  for 1/32 (32 pieces from one A4 sheet) or 8 pieces if you want smaller 1/62 (32 pieces from one A4 sheet)
Β Β Β  3: fold the rectangles.

Why this method is good ? because you can do it in stages , you don't hang too much on one stage to make it tedious . tired of folding? try cutting strips , tired of cutting strips ? cut the strips into rectangles . and so on .

i used to precut 4 pages into strips (16 strips) , and took 3-4 strips a day (32 pieces)Β  cut them and made some pieces. That way i could manage my time ( i had really little of it ) and not to hang on one task all the time .Β

I see, I will be using this trinity method in the future xD . Also, I wasn't aware of the existence of paper cutter boards, cutting it's the hardest part for me so thanks for that information ^.^

Do you use something to help you plan the design?

Catstrosity In reply to Agiaht [2017-06-18 18:36:03 +0000 UTC]

I Saw your page , you can draw , beautifully.
Lots of research , trial and error .I don't have an artistic eye , i can't draw from imagination but i can copy.Β  As when you draw , i follow the lines , study the curves and the strait lines, and the patterns . TryngΒ  to replicate them by trial and error. It is difficult, because i cant stop until im satisfied , and im a perfectionist . Β

If I tried this I'd probably scream and set it on fire a quarter of a way through out of frustration... I'm seriously amazed you actually managed to continue on through a complete start over. Congrats on your DD as well!

To be honest I wanted to set it on fire more than once , it was very frustrating . Specially when i couldn't get the design i was happy with. Β
