I wouldn't be surprised if you have heard this before, but that's incredible writing! First time reading I was confused - why would an alarm clock behave like that (it's not like we are used to objects flying away and I did not expect steampunk, lol) but then I reread the title and everything clicked together!
Congratulations on the DD's, you most definitely deserve them. :]

Thank you! I'm glad that my writing could engineer such an aha! moment, even if it was a quick bit for a contest.
I meant to stop and comment on your gallery when I was returning llamas--your art is beautiful as well!

Hey there. I decided to try and write a critique for this very short story of yours, for Critmas' sake. Congratulations for the DD, by the way.
Your piece would make for a very interesting story beginning, I must say. The figure of a "blaring alarm" which flies will roam my nightmares from now on. It's almost as if it was in charge of awakening all of the contraptions in the shop, instead of only its owner.
"Showtime* is the perfect finale for this piece, in my opinion. It conveys a snappy feeling of readiness which goes hand in hand with the infernal alarm mentioned above, giving the whole piece a steampunk aura.
To conclude this, let me say that it took me a bit of reading your piece, in order to think up something decent to write. This kind of Twitter-long stories is an acquired taste not unlike haikus, I reckon.

Thank you!
I was not expecting to come back to dA and find this DD or this critique, but both made my day today.

Writing a critique on such a short piece was a real challenge, if I say so myself.

This is why I hate twitter; it requires superb wordsmithing skills to get something across in 140 characters. You succeeded with flying colours, well done!

Oh, come on! There are vastly better reasons to hate Twitter!

Thank you! I had been hoping to enter in the other rounds of the competition, but I just ran out of time.
Will you be running a similar competition next year?
