Actually, this fits in with the lore perfectly. The Inquisition and the Space Wolves are the only ones that know about the existence of the Grey Knights, and it is said that a relationship between an inquisitor and a Grey Knight is actually very common.
Or so I've heard from OneMindSyndicate on his lore videos.

I'm guessing it's his way of saying "Sorry about that time we butchered your sisters so we could paint our armour in their blood to prove how awesome we are."

Or, at least, a very, very twisted depiction of actual events. I can certainly see "Sisters sacrifice themselves to protect the Grey Knights" turning into "Sisters were sacrificed by Grey Knights for protection" after quite a lot of corrupted retellings...

Jeova0sanctus0unus In reply to vovan1 [2019-09-06 14:54:51 +0000 UTC]
why not. The first guy speculates that the sisters maybe advanced too quickly, and took more losses than they needed to, the second one is pretty sure the grey knights actually held back intentionally so the Sororitas would absorb hostile fire, the 3rd one heard somewhere that the Grey knights actually teleported away, sacrificing the Sisters for their own savety. and the 4th one interprets the words "sacrifice" differently alltogether.

I can see Sisters forming defensive line around Knights, while they are preparing massively souped-up Holocaust to finally turn the tide of battle in the Imperium's favor, and taking heavy losses during that time.
Afterwards, it's noted, how only through Sisters' heroic sacrifice this victory was made possible (as otherwise, the nanotech swarm would've eventually taken them all out, having such an advantage in both mass and defense).
And then the game of the broken telephone starts...

The worst thing that happened in the 40k universe isn't the Necrons or the Tyrannids, it was when Ward got his hands on the power to change its continuity. Β Believe it or not but there was a time when the Ultra-Smurf were respected...(Continuous rant against Matt Ward)

Platinius [2015-08-06 12:20:22 +0000 UTC]
I have a simple queation.
"Who is giving that lovely rose to whom?"
Because, Grey Knights are single minded in their jobs even compared to regular Space Marines (GK commanders actually have small glitches in their condtioning which gives them the quantum of free thought necessary to be commander) and therefore have little to no concept of art, romance or even friendship. They know only loyalty and duty to the Emperor and killing the unkillable. The Sisters of Battle on the other hand are regular (if super badass) women who are quite passioned in their job and lean themselves on an entire culture derived from faith, comradery, protecting people and inspring them. They interact with the normal population of the Imperium at large and deal a dood deal with them in their day to day lives. They are, after all, drawn from all kinds of sisterhoods that look after the general population, from child rearing over education, medicine, spiritual guidance and art (and even if not as creators, then definitely as patrons and inspirations). All of that are the bricks and mortar upon which the Sisters are build and sustain themselves and gives them the strength to go onward.
To summarize, it would only be natural for a such a passioned creature to share some of that fire, beauty and life with someone who has barely (if any) concept of a life beyond training and warring the unthinkable.
And to those who want to nitpick, even she doesn't know in what ways the GK differ from regular SM, after a chat with one of them it should be pretty obvious how they feel and think. A GK wouldn't even thin of picking a rose up, never mind offering it as a gift.
Conclusion: Awesome Β

I dono from my impressions after reading the Emperors Gift, i disagree.
Hyperion (one of the main characters, and he is aΒ Grey knight) seemed quite human to me.(In mind not body)Β He even once mentioned that he found the shape of the Female Body "Pleasant" end quote.
And no i do not have the page.
I mean yea they were strange at times, but... he seemed human enough for me.
Of course, Hyperion could be an outleyer.
Besides there is that one scene where He reaches out wiht his mind while meditating, and "Catches" the thoughts of other humans. He could have done s simmilar thing, and maybe chaught the thought "Women like flowers" or something like that, and is trying to raise her morale or something?
All in all though what you wrote makes a certain degree of sense, but... when i saw the image, (and even now) i get the... feeling that the Knight is giving the sister the Flower... i do not know why. Thats just what my mind tells me.

Look at it this way: The fact that WH40K is so bleak, masculine, brooding and dark makes these touching moments a lot more awesome. It's that spark of hope in an eternity of mond-crushing despair that makes WH40K awesome.

The Emperor does indeed! I just LOVE artwork that depicts women in the 40k universe, especially with Space Marines thrown into the mix.Β I think the Grey Knights used to be better before they got re-written.
I don't want to spark an argument, but let me sum thus:
Chaos damn Matt Ward.
Chaos damn anyone who won't damn Matt Ward.
Chaos damn anyone who won't stay up ALL NIGHT damning Matt Ward.

Oh my...
That's one hell of "screw the lore" thing I've read. The theory of willing sacrifice does kinda sounds possible but considering the fact that GK are the OP motherfuckers in the 40k universe when it comes to fighting deamons it's still fucking bullshit.
and thank you for that site and if you excuse me Β I have to read more about stuff that Β will piss me off.

The worst part? Matt Ward made Draigo, the most OP'd of GK's. So it's not like he didn't think he could get away with them just bamfing through that shit, since Kaldor Draigo killed a Bloodthirster in single combat, and reforged it's ax into a powersword. And then killed a Lord of Change with it. Ok, and he tried to kill off Taldeer in a torture chamber, but it was so dumb, Relic flipped him off and put her in the next game, making it non-cannon. So yes, fuck Matt Ward in his fluff-crushing asshole. If only my ranting could bring back the old power of the Carnifexes...
