----------------
Chung Jung Bu (1106 – 18 October 1179) was a medieval Korean soldier and military dictator during the Goryeo Dynasty of Korea (918–1392).
He was a career soldier, qualified on the military part of the civil service examination. He was most noted for leading a coup d'état in 1170 (Revolt of military officers), dethroning the king and beginning a 100-year military reign in Korea.
As the first Chairman of the ruling War Council, he shares absolute power with fellow Coup leader Yi Ui-Bang until he eventually orchestrates the latter’s fall from power and assassination with secret support of Prince Raskar jen Britannia. Once he had subdued the Yi Ui-Bang loyalists save for his right-hand man Yi Ui-Min, Chung Jung Bu not only assumes absolute power but his reign saw widespread terror and corruption that ultimately results in his clan’s own downfall at the hands of the righteous General Kyung Dae-Seung and afterwards, Chung was himself publicly executed for his numerous crimes.
