HISTORY Note:

On June 15, 1575, The armies of the Takeda and the Tokugawa-Oda Alliance finally face each other at Nagashino Castle.

Determined on resuming his late father Shingen's dream of marching into Kyoto and establishing supreme authority over Japan, Katsuyori Takeda lays siege to Nagashino Castle but the campaign dragged on until news reaches him that Nobunaga Oda had arrived to assist Ieyasu Tokugawa, which he had 3,000 rifles with his army.

Against the advice and warnings from the old chief retainers about facing the Oda, Katsuyori orders a frontal assault on the barricade which Nobunaga and Ieyasu have erected in order to both protect the riflemen and to stop the Takeda Cavalry charges.

The resulting battle was not only one-sided but a complete massacre for the Takeda Army.

In less than 10 minutes, 9,000 Takeda Samurai and over 8 to 12 veteran Takeda Generals - such as Nobuharu Baba, Masakagae Yamagata and two members of the Sanada Clan - were slaughtered and this marked the beginning of the Takeda Clan's descent into extinction, which finally occurs in 1582, just a month before the Incident At Honnoji Temple.
