Description The inescapable glare of a chaotic universe greets your every turn. To be fair, this is something I'd hands-down kill to see, because space has some pretty amazing things!

Also, if you haven't seen the NASA quasar images ( www.nasa.gov/content/goddard/h… ) totally take a look, because they're literally IRL fractals!  That being said, I will be biased to the fractals that look more aesthetically like nebulae...so until we can actually see these things in-person, fractals will be the best window into these kind of phenomenon I think

And yes, it took far too long to make something work.  Hopefully it was worth the time...even though I still think something may be missing, I am mostly happy with how it looks!

This quote instantly came to mind, "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears...in...rain. Time to die." -- Rutger "Roy Batty" Hauer, Blade Runner

Great depth and use of light.

Mmmm, you're calling this epic like Blade Runner?  Man, it's been forever since I've seen that, I really need to watch it again now!

Yeah, I'm in the same boat; I just always loved that quote and the moment I looked at this picture, it came to mind. . .

A thick dark forest allowing a glimpse of the burning sky, soulsilver crystals hanging from the trees, bearing the souls of those who got lost in the woods. As always beautiful work.

Amazing work !
It would be awesome if we could get this type of angle of view when a Quasar/Blasar erupts.

If one of those things erupted and you were in the way of them, you'd probably be toast unless you were fairly far away!

Well.   The usual Quasar, as they are part of the early universe, tends to be Billions of Light Years away.  SO....that would be fairly far away,  not only in space...but in time.
That be awesome when the James Webb launches in 2018...if it sees something like this.

Well it only took two days to get this going.  I spent the other portion of that two weeks working on something that didn't turn into anything! XD

The time you spent working on it was worth it, have no worries.
Breaking the radial pattern with some kind of "looping, helical, and braided shapes" would have been interesting to see for sure. Otherwise, it's not missing anything important.

ChaosFissure In reply to RagnaroCkRaven [2015-04-08 20:49:22 +0000 UTC]

Well, I only spent roughly two days on this.  The other portion of that timespan was on something that I wanted to turn out well, but just wasn't structured to turn out well (yet!).

Breaking the pattern with shapes certainly is possible, but the problem is getting it to integrate with the rest of the image in an appealing way.  I suppose I wanted to keep this a bit more nebulous and focus on the lighting rather than use activity of the clouds as the most active point.  I will say that some fractal-like patterns seem a bit too prevalent for my taste, but that didn't bother me as much as it usually does for some reason

It's beautiful and superbly done -- not that such is of any surprise. The fringing of the golden region with a darker hue of brown adds lovely detail, as does the blurring of the piece in the various areas presented. Amazing job!

It's always a surprise!  I mean, with all that brown, fractals are like a box of choc.... /shot

Sweet Lord, this is amazing! I need to learn how you do those space fractals. Ever considered a tutorial ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChaosFissure In reply to dadrian [2015-04-08 12:03:43 +0000 UTC]

Considered? Yeah. I've actually been working on a space related one recently, though I'm still considering how I want to cover various things because I'm super fickle with how I like my space things looking.

It is going slowly... But better than nothing at all I suppose!

ChaosFissure In reply to dadrian [2015-04-08 12:25:27 +0000 UTC]

I probably will cover some basic steps to get started, then some steps on detailing, steps on coloring, and steps on rendering. I don't think there will be parameters with it..but some editor screenshots will be present.

I don't think quasars are fractal in nature...
Unless you've mistakenly used "literally"

The page I linked definitely has stuff that looks like fractals.  That's what I tried (and probably wasn't clearly) conveying!

Imaging settings o/  It's a combination of moving the dots in places that make them complement the clouds, giving them color that stands out compared to the background, and then using rendering settings that makes them pop out!
