Description After having finally dealt with the massive Meganuron infestation that had plagued the city, it looked like our heroes would be able to get some well earned rest. But, as fate would have it, that was not the case.

Hearing a loud rumble coming from the sea that had once been down town Tokyo, Jet Jaguar and his human friends turned themselves around just in time to witness the Meganuron queen, Megaguirus, rising from the watery depths. Unbeknownst to anyone, it had secretly spent the entire time below the city's surface since it hatched, creating spawns in order to gather enough sustenance for it to go through it's terrifying metamorphosis.

Carrying itself on wings large enough to block out the sun, it took flight, intending to rebuild it's fallen colony elsewhere.

But Jet Jaguar wouldn't have any of that, and after having changed into his giant form he immediately chased after the humongous insect. An epic aerial showdown ensued as the two titans fought in the skies above the sunken metropolitan. But by using its superior speed and a series of hit-and-run attacks, Megaguirus quickly managed to gain the upper hand.

Reaching for the emblem on his stomach, Jet jaguar summoned the Jet Boomerang and hurled it at his enemy. But just like with all his previous attacks, Megaguirus easily dodged it and this time went for the kill.

Using its giant stinger, Megaguirus pierced the iron giant's body, eliciting a collected gasp from the onlookers below. But Jet Jaguar was far from the point of giving up and grabbed a hold on the insect's tail, locking it in place. Unable to escape, the ancient queen could only bellow out a last, deathly howl when the boomerang cleaved its body in half, having finally returned to its master.

This is a very unique approach. I really like this design. I may even go as far as saying that it looks sub aquatic in a way.

I haven't taken the time I should have to comment on this.
I really, really love the hell out of this design. It really strives to make Megaguirus more than just a big dragonfly - she's officially a horrendous queen-like monstrosity. As Ren noted, the manta-ray-like wings are certainly different. It's kind of hard to imagine her wings buzzing, but it's just such a cool and organic design that it's hard to care about silly things like physics and biology.

MOAR.

Thank you very much, dude. I always try to make my kaiju designs feel monstrous, imposing and have an overall feel of power to them and I'm really glad that it seems to work.

I've really been neglecting this series, haven't I. I definitely want to get back to working on it and there's a whole bunch of Showa era monsters that I plan to give my take on.

Oh wow, a Megaguirus that doesn't look like it's trying to be a real life insect so much .

It has a mantaray sorta feel to it due to the way the wings furl out and billow. Short stout tail and big hurking claws are all accounted for. This will probably go down as one of my favorite Megaguirus redesigns.

Also, lol reverse bisection death.

Thanks. Really glad you like the design. Yeah, I also got a bit tired of all the people that redesign kaiju like Megaguirus or Megalon to look more like the bugs you might find around the house or across your wind-shield, even though they're obviously NOT supposed to be like real life insects to begin with.

I REALLY need to take another run through with Megaguirus. My SD was alright but ultimately I failed at making any unique ground with her myself. Eventually I'll get around to more sketch studies we'll see about it then.

Megalon was also handled well by you. My major concerns with his original design was the awkwardness of the drills and his top heavy proportions. His head was absolutley enormous and the rest of him was rather wimpy looking. You kept all the major aspects of his design and just increased his girth and muscle mass. It effectively made him stable. I had a more bio-mechanical direction with mine but I didn't bother showing a full version of it.

As for real life insects...lol. Such features are ornamental at best on kaiju. It looks woefully out of place for a titanic creature to run around with spindly limbs if they aren't supported by a bloody AT field lol. Some things make sense, like having four wings for omnidirectional flight and hovering. Compound eyes, piston tissue, mandibles, abdomen thorax combos...these things all make sense. What doesn't make sense is the when all those things are stretched paper thin when we all know damn well it wouldn't hold up. Megalon has no business with most of those features anyway since 1, he's a chimeric cyborg, and 2, he' straight up hardcore Showa.

Very impressive take on Mgaguirus, she looks quite fearsome. Nice to see the jaws look more insect like. The Wings are interesting looking with that tattered effect on them, but they seem structured like no insect of this or any age.
Wait, how did the queen lay a colony, Before metamorphosis into it's adult stage? As far as I know, no insect is capable of laying eggs in Nymph stage.
In GxM, the colony predating the Megaguirus made sense, as the colony seemed to be the siblings of the current queen rather then her children, deposited in our time and dimension as one egg cluster by the previous unmutated queen.
I guess whatever Megaguirus is supposed to be is like no insect that truly exists, being unlike real dragonflies or Carboniferous Griffinflies, with such a different wing structure, vampiric stingers, additional pincers and social morphism, it makes for an interesting but completely fanciful insect even before size is added on.
