Digital Painting of a Bald EaglePainted from scratch in Photoshop CS4, using one of my own photos as reference.
About 7 hours of work.

I actually had a really good time painting this! I've never really tried painting a bird, and totally just decided to "wing it" lol... I LOVE the way the eye and beak turned out! And I don't even hate the feathers

I was really curious how you would tackle the feathers when I saw the WIP, but you did a great job! The little tiny fluff in front of the eye look perfect and the eye itself is so intense. I like the pale green you chose for the eye. The shading on the beak area is very realistic and three-dimensional, the nostril is very well done. You should work with feathers again! I'd love to see a Scarlet Macaw or some type of toucan.

I'm still not sure that I like my feather technique at this point... but it is something I'll be working on in the future for certain. That little fluff was actually the easiest part! And the eye was fun too
