Digital Painting Ike, an Orca
Painted from scratch in Photoshop CS4, using one of my own photos as reference.
About 6 hours of work.

A couple of weeks ago, I had some fantastic time playing with Ike underwater... he was being such a ham! He had his tongue hanging out the whole time... totally cute! I got this one photo that I LOVED (well, I loved the pose and expression), but it was a bit overexposed and fuzzy (because to be honest, with him right in front of me, making faces, changing my camera settings really wasn't the first thing on my mind lol)... but I didn't want to waste it, so I decided to paint it!
I tried something new with the water webbing... and I'm not sure how I feel about it. As usual, I LOVE the way the mouth turned out, I had a lot of fun painting it. I am also pleased with the background, I kept it true to the original photo, but painted it myself.

I love the pose, and the fact that you brought sharp focus to the face. I'm amazed at how fast you can produce a painting, I couldn't create a masterpiece in 6 hours if I locked myself to my computer and tried to!

Thank you! This was a fast one for me. Lately, I've been taking so much longer to do everything! Hopefully I can get away from that soon. I get distracted way too easily. TV, music, email, facebook. Too much!
