but don't comment, I probably won't get a chance to say thank you... so thanks in advance!Although I never met Dawn personally, her story hit all too close to home. She is an absolute inspiration, a woman who influenced countless people to follow their dreams and never give up. Her passion and love for her job and for the whales, was and is, truly touching.
Having the experience I do with marine mammals, I know that Dawn wouldn't want anything to happen to Tilly, it was an accident. Every day she went to work, she took a calculated risk. One has only to look at photos and video of her with the whales to know that for her, the risk was worth it.
About the Painting: The original reference photo has always been one of my favourite images. I decided to change the whale from the original reference... I chose a difficult angle to paint him from, and I'm not thrilled with the front pectoral flipper, but I love the way the face turned out. I could never do Dawn herself justice. I'm very pleased with the background, and shading in general though. I kept the style more rough and paint-like intentionally.

It`s sad what happened to her, but yeah she knew the risk and she did her job anyway because she loved her job and that is a real inspiration to me and other people.
I never knew her or even knew who she was until I heard about the accident but, still she`s an inspiration and I admire her for that
I hope nothing happens to Tilly, yeah he`s a big animal and when an animal that big plays things can go wrong....

I'm convinced it wasn't an accident, but it's really sad for both Dawn and Tilli...She was a woman who took immense care of "her" orcas, and she will be missed among her family, colleagues, and among "her" marine mammals...

you did a wonderful job on the painting. i never got to know Dawn personally but i know by the look in the eyes she gets every time she was with Tilikum showed that she loved her work. i started crying as soon as i looked at this picture because i recognized both Dawn and Tilikum. She was a magnificent person. and always will be in my heart ive seen her perform at sea world since i was 5 im now 16. she is a main reason why i want to work with these magnificent creatures. thank you so much for sharing this painting.

Very beautiful image and a great tribute to a woman who seems amazing, though I know little of Sea World and have never been there, nor do I really know anything about the story behind this except what you have written here. In any case, a very touching work and rest in peace Dawn.
