Well I never use reference images... which I guess is oringial... pff... but you don't learn when you guess on how something looks unless it's "supposed to look that way" =\ or something... I dunno. I think I should start using references too so I can learn how to draw bodies

It does help. Even using references, every artist draws differently, so it is still an original work.
