Egads. If this is the middle stage, I can't wait to see the fully-fledged beast.
This might be the first good example of actual expression I've seen in this gallery. Bulbasaur and ampharos were cool in their own alien, animalistic way, but ivysaur here is giving me this look which makes me think I might want to watch my back. It really has a sense of character. Not that this one's any less delightfully freaky than the previous two, with a grand display of the less glamourous side of being an animal/plant amalgam, roots boring straight into skin all in plain sight. And of course some wonderfully unpleasant-looking toenails. I really like that wasp-waisted stem, which gives a great dash of cartoonish edge, and the leaves are really well done. I also really like the combination of the turtle-esque beak and sharp teeth. The grey patterns are really effective, those stripes giving it the definite feel of an otherworldly jungle menace. This monster looks like a truly dangerous encounter for any interplanetary explorer.
Great going.
