Description
This is the main character from the House of Night series, Zoey Redbird. I love her, she's an awesome character from an awesome series. I've been wanting to draw HoN fanart for awhile! Here, she is using the spirit candle in one of her rituals for the Dark Daughters. She has an affinity for spirit, fire, water, earth, and air. Meaning she's special. Makes sense since she's the main character! Oh, and this is a vampire series. Different from Twilight. And in my opinion, better than Twilight.(and personally, I hope she ends up with Erik, though I need to read Untamed and Hunted!)

Hmm, I've never heard of this series before...then again, I have a hard time keeping up with new books. I have this notion instilled in me that I should only read "the classics". I'm actually hoping to read "Dracula" during the summer, then maybe see if I can find out how this whole vampire craze started
Hmm, you say this character is...essentially good at everything? Well, I trust she has a flawed, but likeable personality, then. Or maybe as a Jill-of-all-trades, she's not particularly good at any of them. Or something...and going from what I've read about Twilight, this character wouldn't have to try very hard at being better than Bella.
Anyway, this is still a very nice picture! The dark clothes against the small bit of light from the candle add to the magical feeling. I also like how the feathers are very faintly sketched.

It seems that way, but it's not like, mary-sueish. I dunno how to describe it. But she's definitely no Bella, that's for sure.

I know about Erik and his possessiveness over Zoey. But who can blame him? I know it's wrong, but she is still confused about her feelings with Heath and Stark, so that really didn't help him. He needs better credit. (But that still doesn't make what he did right, I don't know. I still prefer Erik over this Stark guy.)

Stark is cool, no denying anything. I just don't see him as a pairing with Zoey, but I'll probably change my view once I get to know him.

I got Untamed and Hunted today! I'm so excited. Stark, so far, is a goofball. Kudos to him with Duchess, I love dogs! <3

I see no point in why people like ZoeyxStark. The kiss was so random. He was like: "personal blah" and she was like: ooo he's cute! and then kissing as he's dying. To me, I think of Stark and Zoey's relationship as really good friends if they actually had more than one chat, but kissing after one meeting? Seems weird to me. Stark's a nice buy, but we don't really know the guy. I'm sure Hunted will explain a bit more about him, but I think that he has more of a potential to be a really good guy friend than a lover for Zoey. But that's my opinion. Ugh, and I know Erik's not in the best place in these books, but it doesn't mean he's all that bad. (I'm just speaking in general opinions of what I heard, so I'm sorry if I'm offending you.)
I am still a ZoeyxErik fan! lol I really hope, when she decides to 'settle down' that it will be Erik, but I really hope Zoey thinks before she acts, in that sense.

I like this series, it's well written. Plus, it's really getting me back in the drawing mood, so I may start doing more fanart. lol, I'm no a very active dA artist, but I draw when I can!

I like it in general. I'm pretty open minded about religion so I don't mind the religious references to Wiccan at all. I always loved vampire stories, and I am a Twilight fan. I didn't like it as much as Stephenie Meyer's other book, The Host however so I went and I randomly bought Marked and I loved it and got Betrayed and Chosen a few days later.
I know Erik's being possessive, but in some ways, I don't blame him. He, after all, was cheated on by Zoey with two different guys, so he became more jealous and possessive, but that's no excuse, I agree. Erik has to set some things straight and trust Zoey a bit more, but at the same time, Zoey needs to understand that what she's doing with Stark and Heath aren't right either, and sometimes she seems oblivious to that.

Oh wow, you did a beautiful job on the hair. Since I drew my first full value picture of a person this year, I can appreciate the time and effort that went into making it perfect. Jeez.

Thank you very much! I really wanted to improve my realism and I guess the easiest way for me to approach that is through hair. (It's one of my better 'talents' besides eyes.)

The picture itself has a very heartwarming quality to it. But what catches my attention fist is the hair. It looks so natural, even when flying all over the place. Great job.
