But wishes are just wishes, and their words but lies. I feel more, painfully so. More than I want, more than I had wished for. And now I have become a Shapeshifter who has lost the essence of his being so much that he is drowning in his instincts to escape his shame. What a terrible charade this is!==
Just a quick drawing of Shifter that is also a mock panel. I need to figure out a lot of things before I can start a comic. Man... I have far too many sitting on my laptop that need to be finished! >> Bear with me.

Well XD; that is more or less easy to explain. it's... the result of him not being able to cope with the newly found morals/principles/feelings. It's driving him mad so much that he's resorting to drowning himself in his instincts which in turn makes him realize how pitiful he is.
I fancy him standing there and speaking to someone he trusts somewhat. Which would explain his... pose and such. XD; He can be quite odd character, if you wish him to be.

Hmm. An interesting situation. So then what do you think will be the end result for Mr. Shifter? Do you think he can overcome his instincts, or is he doomed by them? The structure of the scene, with the spear point and colours, seems to suggest a negative result, but maybe I'm just looking too hard at it. XP
Rather nonchalant of him, considering the bloody battle he's just finished. XD

Well, with the setting I have him in right now he is a... soldier of some sorts. The side he chooses to support has to fit his morals, thus causing the least cognitive dissonance when he does fight the enemy. It's only emotions which go beyond the battlefield that drive him to the limits of his mind, and make him exploit every opportunity to follow his instincts with a reason. So... right now, in this setting, he would be fine. He would have the means to vent.
As for... the nonchalance. XD; I wouldn't be too sure if it was nonchalant at all. Perhaps more of an attempt to fool himself into believing to be calm and collected when he knows how shameful it is that anyone, even more someone he trusts and did not wish to see him in this state, is witness to his cruel instincts. ... yes, something along this.

Poor Shifter. Torn between his instincts, the fear of what they could do, his own emotions runnuing rampant because they are so powerful, which leads to him wishing himself submerge in his shapeshifter's instincts again to escape them, which in turns causes guilt = more emotions he has to deal with- A vicious circle. He knows this paradox and I think he finds himself pathetic, with how he poses almost, dramatically, eyes (half) closed while he cries.
I like the effect that the more 'positive' statement on the left side has a brighter background, while the right is in cool blue shades. It enhances the oppositeness of his 'former', simpler life as shapeshifter and his complex, heavy existence now and yet belongs together as the two statements lead to one another.

You summed it up pretty nicely in this one paragraph, really. How could he return to his prior state if it meant giving up everything that made him who he was? He's too considerate to give in to his origins yet suffering from the new world that has opened to him.
