While working on this over the past month I noticed that it is pretty challenging to paint objects with minimal lighting. Would you feel the need to test your colors and values on a separate page or gradually apply a bunch of guesstimated colors directly until you believe it looks right? I generally went with the latter in all my previous stuff, however, when it came to this one I drew a couple "color/value-spheres" to try to get decent form. I think it was a good experiment.Done in GIMP, 20+ hours.

That's pretty cool, the way you've blended Canterlot architecture with the Ponyville atheistic. I feel like it very much suits it's new owner to.

Lovely painting, and I really like the colors. Although it just strikes me as amusing that it's so tall a house yet it's still thatched with straw. [1] Probably need Pegasi for the top floors...

Beautiful art! I can't imagine doing this all in GIMP. I like painting directly on the image until it 'looks right', but I do make test spheres and keep swatches on the edge of my more complex images.

I love open source (Blender FTW!) but I just never liked GIMP. You do awesome things with it though.

This piece really displays a lot of skill for painting.
It would take me way longer than 20ish hours to make something so detailed.
This is very well done and is realistic, in a sense, because of just how many details you added.
All the fruits and the stones and even the hair on the people.
