This is a fantastic piece, with great depth and detail. The multi-tones in the hair really help to bring it to life and almost gives the drawing an essence of reality. The eyes are also amazingly well done; with a great amount of life in them; which draw the viewer in.
The plainer background (by no means do I mean actually plain; just in comparison to the portrait) helps to draws the viewers attention to the main subject which again draws the viewer into the portrait.
The composition is also very well thought out, which helps to add more attention to the main subject.
It's a great piece with an amazing amount of life.
