Description I have been a tornado and weather fanatic since I was about 5 or 6 years old (an unusual hobby for a child) and my favourite movies are Twister,The day after tomorrow and Category 7 the end of the World.I also like The Core even though there are no tornadoes in it.But sometimes I have terrible nightmares about these deadly beauties. My home in Australia very rarely if never gets a single tornado.

Due to interest by fellow tornado hobbyists. Here are some other tornadoes in my gallery.

A threatening F-4 in "Blown away" [link]

I will add more links when I wreak more havoc.

Yeah when I made this I think I wasn't thinking about the presence of mountains in the scene, I just drew them

It's always been the dream - to see one in real life. They still sometimes happen in Australia, but not often. You need to just be lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, and I never have been

Keep up the good work

What a coincidence, sharks were my brother's thing actually Them and Crocodiles. We bother had an interest in watching and learning about stuff than can kill you

Of course, no-one wants to be in the path of a tornado (or in a tank with a shark ) But they're fun to observe and study from a safe standpoint

Wow!! Amazing!! I have adored Tornadoes since I was really young too. xD I have always wanted be a storm chaser as a hobby. I watch any show I can and read everything I can about them. In a way you are lucky to not have to worry about them, but I'm sorry you have never been able to really see one form and hit. It leaves you speechless til it's over.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to JackBKewl [2012-02-02 02:40:42 +0000 UTC]

Lol, yeah, reminds me of when I was a kid and I want to be in the storm chasing groups too. But realistically I would have gotten bored of all that driving to just see 20 minutes of tornado activity (and they do say that most storms end up being "duds" ) But still, I was always paranoid that we would get "the one" storm that produces a powerful tornado in my area. It's not impossible, but incredibly unlikely

JackBKewl In reply to Chromattix [2012-02-02 03:10:08 +0000 UTC]

A friend of mine actually have started saving money out so we can take a trip out to Tornado Alley in the next few years or so. Hopefully "the one" doesn't happen. I couldn't imagine. Shoot I could hardly believe what I've witnessed! Either way, awesome work on those pieces. ^_^

Vierzbanator [2011-09-04 15:11:32 +0000 UTC]

holy crap, talk about a Mesocyclone in full throttle. The two on the right are proboly a single multivortex (came from the same mesocyclone), the one on the left is a seperate tornado with its own Meso. theese tornadoes look like EF-3s, A storm able to spin up tornadoes like that in the picture is not a supercell, but a turbocell (a theroy of mine).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to Vierzbanator [2011-09-05 02:32:31 +0000 UTC]

Damn, I was hoping turbocells were a real thing that I just haven't heard of yet (it seems for many things there are always bigger ones being discovered, like first we had giant stars, then supergiants, now hypergiants - they just keep finding bigger ones all the time )

Three such properly-formed tornadoes at once would be near impossible, but I bet it's happened before, even if before humans were around to see it Normally three has one proper one and two half-tornadoes that are not as much of a threat

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Vierzbanator In reply to Chromattix [2011-09-05 07:38:39 +0000 UTC]

my theroy of a turbocell is,

Warm moist air rises, a sudden blast of cool air causes this to spin. A tiny area of low pressure is created and ominus, swirling cumulus clouds begin to develop. Cumulonimbus clouds form as a verticle tube of rotating warm moist air forms. If the condintions are right, the rotating wind field grows and an outer tube is formed. The clouds increase in size and the entire storm rotates, with an airflow pattern simmilar to that of a hurricane. A powerful tornado is likley to develop in the center of the storm, but unfortanuatley, it will be wrapped in heavy rain. Turbocells bring loads of CG and Heavy Winds that could cut power and cutting people off from any tornado alert signals or broadcasts.

Chromattix In reply to Vierzbanator [2011-09-05 09:39:37 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, so it would be like a much narrower hurricane - that would look really cool from above for the side at sky-level Rain often does ruin the view when it comes to many things. I've noticed even normal storms only look interesting before the details get blocked out by a haze of distant rain

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Vierzbanator In reply to Chromattix [2011-09-06 02:38:46 +0000 UTC]

like a narrower hurricane, but is not as powerful and only the size of a regular thunderstorm.

ill upload a picture of what i think it would look like sometime.

I belive they exist but the radar eaisily mistakes them as supercells, the only ways to tell its a turbocell is by looking at it from the ground or sattalite imagrey.

Love!!! I love this so much! I'm not so different from you, I was a tornado fanatic ever since I was a little kid... my fav movie will always be twister, and night of the twisters.... those were the first two movies that really got me hooked on the idea of being a storm chaser.
I live in Ohio in the U.S. so we do get our occasional outbreak, however we all know that the real jackpot is tornado ally, which I'm not that far away from... I want to go out there one summer and just chase...
