It is quite hard to get a nice drawing on watercolour paper, but you did it!! Actually I love the hair

it's lovely. great texture going down. there's such depth in the shapes and positions. very wonderful. i don't mind your people, i don't normally like these sorts of things, but you do such a job that makes them so raw and human

I like this portrait because it has character. It's beautifully shaded, which is the first thing I noticed, but the texture was a close second. I would have like to have seen the grain show on the background as it was, without the layer. Still, it all works.

I agree the texture in the background was nice, but my camera couldn't handle it and it kept coming out all whitey instead of black so I was short of options. And time....

not really. It's the pencil background with a 40% opacity black layer thrown over the whole piece and then I erased out the main figure. The idea was to minimize the grain on the background without having it completely digital
