The other half of my graduation present to my dear friend based on her Sun/Moon Kingdoms story, this time Mickey. Slightly different format for him and I want to thank everyone for their suggestions.The symbolisms in this one are a bit trickier to find (that's mostly cause a lot of them kinda just popped up as I was coloring it; mostly found by Mel herself cause you know she's just that amazing). The more obvious ones are the flames, rising sun and the phoenix but also how the phoenix is awake where as the rabbit was asleep, the crazy sporadic designs on Mickey's clothes, hinting at his (and the sun kingdoms) more playful, out going and unpredictable nature. The ashy white of his under clothing, like ashes from a flame. I'm probably forgetting some XD lol This was a lot of fun to paint and even more so cause I had some awesome people chatting with me so thanks to you again for stopping by.

Wow, cool! And I know it's probably too late to say this, but you could have drawn the Sun in different phases of rising and setting. That would have been AWESOME symbolism!!)

I remember watching you whip up the phoenix in no time flat during that stream and I was just blown away by your speed and skill. I wish I could have hung around more to really see this one burst to life, but at the same time I can really appreciate the detail that went into this just by looking at it. Those designs in the sun are so subtle that I didn't catch them at first, but now that I have they're pretty much my favorite part of the whole piece. Gold was a great choice for eye color. Overall a marvelous piece, from the nearly-symmetrical composition and right down to the detail on Mickey's headband.

Why am I friends with such a talented person, I have no idea. This is really one of the best graduation gifts I have ever gotten, and I will treasure both pieces forever. Watching this come to life was a real treat, and it's made me appreciate all of your work even more. All of the blends of color work perfectly together, always love those spiraling design details, and everything is just so vibrant! While the Moon picture makes one want to sit and absorb it all in, this sun fills one with energy and ambition! His fierce look and stance is just so very inspiring, it makes my fingers itching to write. How you make such a great work of art by my mere little words is a magic spell I'll never understand, but I am eternally grateful for.

Cause you are a hard worker who deserves oodles of nice things, you are the sweetest, you make me smile on pretty much a daily basis, you're funny, a great person through and through, fun to talk to, understanding, I consider you one of my bestest best friends and I love ya...there are most likely more reasons besides these too. I'm very happy you like these, I really wanted to make you something special (one day I'll learn to sew and I'm gonna make you a little scarlet!Mickey or goggles!Mickey doll yes I will *determination* ). But you know the best part about this? I got to talk to you and such wonder people while I drew it, that is my favorite part.
