Description the fallacy that is "drag is a big fuck you to male-dominated society" is absolutely bullshit. on behalf of rupaul's latest interview, he's stated that drag is a big 'fuck you' to male-dominated society, and i want to explain why his reasonings are wrong and point out all of the flaws in what he said in the interview.

let's get things straight, drag was not made by gay men. contrary to what others may think, drag was not invented by gay men. trans women in the lgbt community, specifically in the 20th century, created drag in order to escape societal gender roles. since then, gay men have taken what was originally trans women's, and labelled it as their own. drag is for everybody, not exclusively for cis gay men. this includes trans women, trans men, cis men, cis women, nonbinary people, EVERYBODY!!

i find it funny that rupaul would say such things about drag when he's built his entire career off of something his own kind did not invent. and on top of that, rupaul has said multiple misogynistic things as well as transphobic things, comparing trans women taking hormone replacement therapy to athletes taking performance-enhancing drugs in the olympics, and saying cis women cannot do drag because they are simply cheating. this policy is untrue. rupaul also has said numerous hateful things about past drag race contestant, season 9 runner up peppermint/agnes moore, who is a trans woman. the company that owns rupaul's drag race forces transgender women who audition for the show and get on to stop taking hormone replacement therapy. multiple transgender women who have been on the show have confirmed this. this includes kylie sonique love of season 2, carmen carrera of season 3, stacy layne matthews of season 3, kenya michaels of season 4, monica beverly hillz of season 5, and most recently peppermint of season 9.

drag is NOT a man dressing up as a woman. drag is not being feminine. drag is not singularly-defined. there are multiple different kinds of drag; drag queens, drag kings, bio kings, bio queens, trans queens, trans kings, all of it. it is not to look fishy, it is not to pass as a woman, it is not any of that. drag is an ART FORM and it should not be labelled as men dressing up as women.

and for fucks sake, rupaul even throwing his own best friend michelle visage under the bus is absolutely bullshit. michelle visage is a bio queen herself and rupaul claiming that her drag isn't valid because she has a vagina is bullshit.

don't let big stars like rupaul depict what drag is and isn't. drag is queer artistry at its finest and it isn't gay male exclusive.

thank you for taking the time to read my rant. i appreciate it! please don't fight in the comments btw, but i'm glad to hear your feedback!

Cis gay men turning drag into a transphobic cesspool is what makes drag hella triggering for me alot of a time. And when I tell people drag nowadays is transphobic and I'm told I'm wrong I'm just like mmmkay

First, there's that Stonewall movie that has a gay white guy replace the same role that a trans person of color played in real life's history, and now this nonsense.

The LGB needs to stop oppressing the T.
