The Paladins of Sol Orsa (Beginning Star):
These knights of the Confederacy formed as a philosophical sect situated on the planet Alacaster, serving as palace guardians to the Lords of the Aristocracy, and have become revered as guardians of peace and justice in the Orion Arm. Their craft marks them as mystical wielders of Eco of all kinds, and their powers have inspired billions across the centuries. The calm, considered demeanor of the Paladins made them ideal brokers of peace in times of conflict or dispute. Yet, for all their power and diversity, the Paladins were few, and were eventually hated for their spirits and their faith.

The Paladins of Sol believed that Humans originated from a distant system, an Earth Sol, and migrated to where humanity currently lay. Such knowledge of any Sol system was lost in the Great Omission and only faint memories and evidence suggests this. This belief had started to lose credibility, and popularity, soon after the Omission. The Aristocracy too wished to suppress this belief in favor of their new Chain of Being, that the Omission was punishment from God (and so too did the paladins believe this), and that there was no origin of their kind. Yet the Paladins had great sway over many Nobles and civilians in the new society across dozens of worlds.

Sol Orsa was also an organization that practiced archeological study on many worlds. Such lead them to artifacts and mysteries that only strengthened their faith. Soon many chose to become their own religious sect, still serving the Aristocracy but shirking the belief that they were divinely chosen for their positions. Yet as the Aristocracy’s divine warriors, the Paladins chose not to disobey their masters’ wishes, lest they risk the stability of the young Confederacy. Instead, they had begun to split, Sol Orsa and Sol Nero existed to serve the brothers Edmund and Dimitri Reizer, the greatest of the Light and Dark to history.

Over the years, Sol Orsa and Sol Nero continued to split apart in faith and practices. Sol Nero was always small, secretive, yet still maintained relations with their parent organization. Unfortunately for the order, in 1475, under the guise of an asteroid cataclysm, the Nobles launched a planetary bombardment on Alacaster. This terrible act nearly annihilated the Paladin order, leaving only a small handful on Earth Terra to be reined in by the Nobles, allowed to practice their faith only in secret. It was this act that prompted Sol Orsa and Nero to reunite temporarily in action, raising students who were Keybearers to actively search out Sol.

One day in 1504, Sol was rediscovered by a small diverse band during the Nightmare crisis, and was secretly kept from the Nobles. Nearly a century later, these Lords were defeated and replaced by compassionate and truly noble leadership. The Paladins were once again allowed to flourish and take up their former mantle as Guardians of the Aristocracy, seekers of enlightenment and justice.

Now, Sol’s location is still largely unknown to people, yet its knowledge has proliferated throughout the galaxy. It is a holy place for many people, not just Sol Orsa. While their brothers in Sol Nero have become enshrouded in mystery, they have rebuilt their culture and claimed territory on Earth Terra, the homeworld of their former masters.

I was really inspired to make this one, you can tell. One of the oldest concepts to my story/rp Weapon of Hope. It was difficult designing their attire, to mind it would have been a mixture of Renaissance European and Egyptian. XD Yes, beamsabers rule. Not exactly a lightsaber, although it is energy it is powered by the paladins strength of will. Yet I should admit, the Paladins were heavily inspired by the Jedi. This man may just be a stock paladin but he is so cool, I should probably use him sometime.

Background is numerous spliced images, props to Myst: Uru for them! XD I tried picturing what their order would look like architecturally, and I came to see them as enclosed, cathedral-like, yet open between pillar-buildings underground or just inside a cave or mountainside where windows would allow light in. Inside these caverns there would be temples, parks, hidden chambers of all sorts and glowing gold with the evening light. Props to mace windu for inspiring the beginning quote too. ;3
