Description

Devonian, ~380 million years ago

Luckily the shapes of humans are too alien for the massive Homostius to register as prey. However, the presence of these strange, bubble-emanating creatures is enough to make the fish stir fom its hiding place at the bottom of the sea, the' sudden movement scaring off a group of Psammolepis's.

After lengthy deliberation I decided to write my thesis on palaeontological illustration aka. palaeoart. and create a series of accompanying palaeontological illustrations depicting paleozoic Estonia.

Not to be confined to dry textbook work I furthermore decided to bring in a sci-fi element in the form of timetravelers conducting research on the prehistoric environments. Bringing in humans was meant to provide an "empathetic anchorpoint" for the viewing layperson, and to enhance a sense of contrast in the end result.
