I've got a BIG digital painting coming up next week, but for now we've got these.
I took it upon myself to gather up all the sketchbooks I've kept in the last three years and scan EVERY more-or-less worthwhile doodle within them, in order to have them touched up in Photoshop and uploaded. Said "touching up" often became pretty drastic, some doodles even getting redrawn from scratch. Basically I've got a lot of stuff that I feel is worth showing, for one reason or another, but that are all too insignificant by themselves to be worthy of a separate deviation.

Since I mostly draw my own roleplay characters I figured that a good way to sort them would be by series. I've got enough material for at least three or four more of these.

The first one I did is my current series, nicknamed Finstarnessi. From my perspective it was mostly about a female spy passing for a man, trying to find out why the instances of demonic possession were increasing, and getting steadily more mangled as time went by.

I've actually been trying to get a hang on a "cartoonier" style, because putting people together from geometrical shapes like they were lego blocks is just more...fun...than referencing every detail from real life. Besides, Henry/Julia is hairpullingly hard to depict realistically, what with hir androgynous appearance. Nonetheless, I still have my usual issues with consistent facial features and facial perspective. Let's just say, as a visual shortcut, that EVERYONE with a pointy nose is automatically supposed to be my character.

I think I'm improving a bit though, particularily when it comes to facial perspectives. I need to thank the weekly Drink n' Draw event for that, because unlike my croqui class it allows me to sit quite close to the model and thus sketch all the nifty perspective distortions that happen when looking up on someone standing on a podium.
