Description Maria the Hedgehog

Chapter 1: Return From the Past

“Shad…”
A familiar yet silent voice sounded in a white void. At first he thought it was nothing but then he heard it again.
“Shadow…” It was closer this time.
The hedgehog saw her in the distance slowly closing the gap between them.
“Maria?...”
As she came into focus he could see that she had bright, glowing wings that looked as if they were made from light themselves. Shadow stared at her with awe as she approached him. She kneeled down so the two could both see eye to eye. Maria stroked his cheek softly with her dainty hand.
“Shadow… It’s been so long… But now we can finally be together…”
“Maria, I...” Shadow cut himself off as she closed in for a kiss.
But just when their lips were about to touch, he heard her say “I’ll see you soon.”
He woke up in one of the scientists’ bedrooms Space Colony Ark.
He quickly sat up in frustration and confusion. He tosses the blanket off the bed and sits on the edge of it with his hand on his head. For the past few days he was having dreams reflecting his days on the Ark with Maria. However, this one had nothing to do with his any of his memories.
This was unusual for Shadow; it had been at least a year since the last time he dreamt of her or even thought of her much.
“What’s wrong with me?...” The hedgehog thought to himself, “Why can’t I just leave my torment behind?...”
He walked the halls of the Space Colony Ark looking down at the floor pondering. For too long, there had been a dark, soulless void inside Shadow where Maria used to be. And being constantly reminded of her absence only brought him more despair.
Over the course of his early life, the hedgehog had developed feelings for the human girl. However, he never confessed his love for Maria on the Ark for various reasons. But now Shadow will never know if Maria felt the same way. He never knew that it would be something he’d regret after so many years.
The black hedgehog stopped by a large window looking down at Earth where he used stand with her.
He still remembers the times when he and Maria would gaze down on the marvel and talk about the day that would never come. Looking at the glass, Shadow could almost see Maria’s ghostly reflection standing next to his. The ultimate life form sighed.
“I should come here less often… It just brings back too many memories…”
With a flash of light he left the Space Colony Ark, once again, lifelessly deserted with Maria still on his mind.

The glow from the full moon radiated softly on the small house in the woods beneath it. Inside lived three mobian females who were spending a usual carefree Saturday night. A brown cat girl wearing torn denim shorts and a yellow tank top sat in a lazy boy chair watching TV. Not far from her was a small young gray chinchilla girl wearing a simple pink gown reading a book on a red couch.
“FIVE!!!”
CRASH!!!
The din from upstairs made both of the girls in the living room flinch.
“Uh. I mean… FORE!!!”
“Dangit Robin!!” The cat yelled getting up from her seat and heading for the stairs. “How many times do I have to tell you! If you’re going to do that, then do it OUTSIDE!!”
“Be careful, Jenna. And… please don’t start another fight…” The chinchilla said nervously.
Jenna kicked the door open to the red squirrel’s room. The squirrel was wearing a green, long sleeve shirt, baggy blue jeans, and thick glasses that almost hid her blue eyes. She was holding a golf club and one of her room windows was shattered.
“Gimme the golf club, Robin.” Jenna demanded holding out her hand.
“Nnno!” Robin stepped away from her older roommate.
“I said give it to me, Robin!!” Jenna reached for the club but the squirrel was keeping it away from her.
“Maaa-eeeh!” She whined.
“GIMME IT!!!”
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!
A large noise sounded from outside as something gave out a harsh white light. The house shook so much the girls nearly lost their balance. Tilla yelled and ran underneath the coffee table to hide.
When things finally mellowed out, Jenna blinked and said.
“What the hell was that!?...”
“…Hmmm…” Robin dropped the golf club and ran down the stairs on all fours and Jenna followed.
Tilla peeked from her hiding spot as her two older friends headed for the door.
“H-hey! Wait! Don’t leave me here!”
She crawled out and followed them outside.
It didn’t take them long to find someone laying face down nearby their house.
“Wh-what is that?...” Tilla said shivering.
“I don’t know. But I’m going to find out.”
Jenna carefully approached the stranger as Tilla hid behind Robin a few yards away.
As she examined the figure she took the subject’s pulse from the wrist.
“Well?” Robin asked curiously, “What is it?”
“It’s a girl… A hedgehog girl…She’s alive but unconscious.”
“Ooh! Lemme see!” The squirrel ran over and pushed Jenna aside.
It appeared to be a yellow female hedgehog wearing some odd dark clothing decorated with chains that was burnt in some places. Her quills had taken the shape of blonde hair being embraced an arch-like headpiece.
Tilla walked up to the hedgehog nervously.
“Where do you think she came from?”
“I’m gonna be honest with you, Tilla.” Jenna got back to her feet, “I don’t know. We don’t even know how she got here. I guess we we’ll have to ask her when she wakes up.”
Jenna lifted up the hedgehog girl and draped her arm over her shoulder.
“C’mon let’s bring her inside. She needs our help.”

A few hours had passed and the newcomer began to stir on the living room couch. Her head throbbed as she slowly opened her blue eyes to a temporary blurred vision. When her eyesight cleared up, she confirmed that a young red female squirrel was standing over her smiling.
“Oh good! You’re awake!” She said.
The hedgehog blinked in confusion.
“Huh?...”
Jenna walked over to her.
“Hey, are you all right? You’re not hurt are you?” She asked concerned.
“No… I don’t think so…”
“Well that’s good. Hang on a sec. Lemme fetch you a glass of water.” The cat went to the kitchen as the guest sat up rubbing her head.
She looked at Robin who was still staring at her curiously. Then she glanced at Tilla who was shyly keeping her distance.
“Hi! My name’s Robin and that’s Tilla!” She smiled gesturing to the young chinchilla.
“Hello.” Tilla spoke bashfully.
“Oh. Well it’s nice to meet you.”
The hedgehog girl glanced around the house still unsure of her surroundings. She felt as if she had to carry out something very urgent but she couldn’t put her finger on it. Jenna returned with the glass of water.
“Here you go.”
“Uh, thanks.” She received the glass and took a few sips.
“My name is Jenna and Robin and Tilla live with me here. What’s your name?”
The girl hesitated for a moment as if trying to remember. Then she answered.
“Maria… My name’s Maria… Where exactly am I? And how did I get here?”
“You’re in Northeastern Mobius and you just appeared in front of our house in some weird flash of light while making a lot of noise.” Robin answered.
“Wait a minute. You mean… You don’t remember where you came from?” Jenna inquired.
Maria looked down at her glass still confused.
“No... No I really don’t...” She shook her head, “To be honest, I can’t remember anything…”
Trying to recall her past events pictures of vague shapes and a lab flashed through her mind giving her a sudden, unexplained feeling of fright. She grabbed her chest and gasped as she flinched at the memory.
“Hey, take it easy.” The cat placed her hand on Maria’s shoulder, “So you have amnesia? It’s no big deal, you can stay with us.”
“REALLY!?” Robin blurted out in excitement, “She can stay with us?!”
Tilla showed a little uncertainty on her face because of the sudden change.
“Of course she can. She has no where else to go, am I right?”
“That’s nice of you, but I really don’t want to be a bother…” Began Maria.
“Oh, nonsense! You won’t be a bother here; you’ll fit right in! Besides I insist.”
“Well… Okay. I guess I could stay with you guys for a while…” said Maria brushing a bang out of her face.
“Great! Now come with me!” Jenna grabbed the hedgehog by the wrist and ran up the stairs, “Let me get you some pajamas so you won’t have to sleep in those burnt clothes.”
As she was brought up to the cat’s room she looked down at herself just realizing the scorched, yet familiar wardrobe she donned.

“There you go! Well? What do you think?”
Maria looked at her self in the full-body mirror wearing light blue pajama pants and a pink top with a picture of a goldfish on it. The yellow hedgehog gave Jenna a soft yet shy smile.
“It’s quite nice, thank you.”
She looked at her reflection again and realized that her body looked and felt surprisingly unfamiliar. She didn’t know what, but something deep inside was telling her that she was once much taller and different.
“You can sleep in the living room.” Jenna broke her train of thought, “Our couch folds out into a bed so you should be comfortable there.”
“Oh. Okay. Thanks Jenna.”
Ten minutes later the feline had finished making the bed for her guest.
“Alright! You should be all set, Maria.” She dusted off her hands, “If you need anything at all just ask me, okay?”
“Uh, sure…” Maria responded.
“Well I better check on the other two. It’s way past Tilla’s bedtime and I have to make sure Robin’s not doing anything stupid… Again…” Jenna began to climb up the stairs.
“Oh, and by the way, feel free to stay here as long as you want. We’ll see what we can do to help you remember anything tomorrow.” She added.
“Okay…”
Jenna continued going up the stairs.
“Thank you. Thank you for taking me in… If I hadn’t appeared so suddenly in front of your house I don’t know what I’d do with myself…” Maria told her.
Her host smiled.
“Hey don’t mention it. We girls have to look out for each other. Well, goodnight Maria. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“Goodnight Jenna.”

After Jenna had prepared the bed for her and she others went to sleep, Maria lied awake thinking to herself.
“I guess I could stay with these people until I get my memories back. They do seem pretty nice and even happy to have taken me in. But…” She shifted in the covers a little, “Why am I here? Where did I come from? And… Why do I feel as if I have something very important to do?… Is it why I’ve appeared here in the first place?... Oh well, I better get some rest. Maybe I’ll remember tomorrow.”
Within a few minutes Maria drifted into sleep and dreamt about gazing at a beautiful, green, blue, and white planet from space with a very close friend.
-----------------
So yeah. Here's the first chapter of Maria the Hedgehog. You'll be able to see the other three OCs in the next chapter BTW. I think now that this first chapter is out of the way I'll return to Sonic and Mario. I like the mysterious wardrobe I created for Maria. I think I'll post a picture of what the whole outfit looks like in the future. In the next chapter Maria begins to remember a few things. And not just a few things from her past-life...

Cool. If you want to make a replica of the costume after I post the image then you're more than welcome to. The costume is a little reminiscent of Bayonetta's outfit with the chains, black leather, and the straps on her arms and boots. Of course, it's not as sexy or revealing though.

Good I don't like revealing clothes,
...it seems too weird to me.

Yeah, I'm not to crazy about the revealing clothes either these days.
