I posted this on tumblr before ISC and it was pretty popular, so I'll throw this here too even though it's really scribbley compared to the rest of my gallery.This is my headcanon for how it happened and I really hope Shin's script doesn't contradict this and not understanding a single word of ISC is killing me ;A;

I'm not really a fan of the camera games either, but I got it anyways because the danmaku is super pretty. It's a lot better than I thought it would be, as the base skill level required to clear the levels is a lot lower than StB and DS but it has a lot more flexibility to match your play style and more replay value for something other than score. There's also a lot more "move around the screen" type cards and I'm really excited to see if those will be implemented more often in later games as ZUN seems to be experimenting with those a lot, and a lot of the cheats are reinforcing good 2hu skills like deathbombing, point-blanking, grazing, and some neat timing stuff that sort of forces you to learn the cards even if you're too lazy. I think it's a huge improvement over the camera games, and really noob-friendly until you get to day 10. You should try it, it's a good training exercise if nothing else
