Description
Of late, I've been pondering whether to continue "Opey the Warhead". Still, I have so much fun working on the darn thing.This drawing is a little preview of Issue 5, which features a girl named Jeanette, who's a little messed up. Also in the drawing are other characters from that issue. Issue 5 is going to be all about Opey's Dad and how he met his robot mother. Coming soon, perhaps...

Please please please do NOT cancel Opey.
I LOVE your Opey comic. To feel more secure about it, you should try to get it out there and get it published for real. You've reached a pretty wide audience on this website plus Drunk Duck, but how much more fame can Deviant Art really make you?
Submit it to some people. Tell them about your Drunk Duck award too. Make it sound good because it IS really really good! I've said it before, but this is one of my favorite comics of all time.
I agree with jhames - take a break from Opey if you need it, but please...don't take away my Opey. :'(

Tom, thank you so much for the support. As you may have noticed by now, I'm not a fellow of great confidence. That's why I have such difficulties submitting Opey to publishers. Everytime I commit myself to printing up some pages and sending them out there, I get cold feet or my doubts start kicking me in shin.
One thing I do know, though. I love working on the comic. It's wonderful to create your own universe, populate it with your characters, and develop them over time.
I'm thinking I will continue with the comic, but take a break between Issue 4 and 5 and work a little on "Miss Doomsday", perhaps submitting a sample of that comic to publishers.
Opey will likely return, though.

I know whatcha mean. My work isn't as refined as yours yet, but I can understand the feeling "it's not good enough!" or "it's not my best work!" The problem is, you can ALWAYS improve over your own art, so how are you ever going to meet these impossible ever-increasing standards?
Opey is so perfectly and professionally done that you really should get it out there onto print.

If you have fun doing the comic, that should be the only reason you need. I find my own lack of interest in any one thing to be the primary reason my Backburner has so much stuff on it. If you look at your work at project's completion and say, "I'm glad I did this," then you've all the reason in the world to continue. If it helps, I've been a fan of your work since first seeing it. Your style has a mixed quality, swaying between cartoonish and realistic as if every person is a caricature, that I've not seen before. I often find myself studying your artwork for ways to improve my own.

Thanks, Carl, for your comment. Means a great deal to me, actually. Opey's a lot of fun to work on, really, and is a real labor of love. I just often have conflicting feelings about the time I spend on it and whether it should be allocated to other art. I can't seem to get Opey out of my system, though. Those are the kind of ideas an artist should probably stick with.

Maybe you should do an Opey 'what if' story where GOOD things happen to him as well, reverse the negative energy you pour into a character who is a stand in for yourself
