And yes, it's taken a while to learn how to do these things, but time has paid off. When I first started using GIMP I just sat down in front of the computer and started doing stuff, to see how everything worked.

No problem. Yeah, thats how i started in PhotoShop too ^^ Now a friend is helping me when i'm in trouble or when i want to learn something.

That's great! It's the best thing to do. Try to do as much as you can on your own, and by reading tutorials, and then if you get absolutely stuck after exhausting your options, THEN ask for help.
