Description I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out. I haven't done a proper digital piece in ages, so I did this.

Again, it's from this fictional city from my graphic novel with I can't seem to get away from New Amsterdam in basically 1930s New York in an alternate dimension, where global warming has already flooded the city, and many parts are waterlogged. Taller and taller buildings are being built to escape the water.

It's a mixture of different techniques; the sign and ocean I made in maya, then rendered. Then I put it on photoshop, used some of my own photos for the sky and city. I worked around a lot of it with some excellent grunge brushes (from [link] ) as well as a lot of the normal photoshop brushes. I also used some stock photography for the wave splashes; [link] [link]

I know this is a long time but I am wondering what happened to your graphic novel? I would really like to read it.

I love the 30s, New York and alternate time lines.

Did you know there's a real "New Amsterdam" in The Netherlands. Search in Google Maps for "Nieuw Amsterdam".

i love it

it almost has a futuristic yet old look to it

same qualities as StarWars brought to the table

futuristic yet it wasnt all shiny and beautiful... all the stuff had been used before

you can see that same quality in this piece with stuff so simple as for example the rust on the posts of the sign or some of the neon lights being unoperational.

brilliant work

I love it, the ocean and the sign look realistic and that gives it a great touch.

Btw, did you know New Amsterdam (or Nieuw Amsterdam, in dutch) is a real place in Holland? I live about 15 miles away from it, I think.

Thanks
and wow, I didn't know that, I based the name on New York's original name which was 'New Amsterdam'.
