Hooray!I always have to do walk/run cycles in flash before i can do it on paper, it just helps me for some reason.
So i had this rough animation of gatordog running, and i decided something had to be done with it!
Thus... Annabelle! Running her big bum off!

Horses scare mee! Looks like it'd be tough to do.. I tried doing a trot of a horse legged like character and that gave me a heck of a time XD

XD ive been around horses since i was a little kid, i've been in love with them for as long as i can remember. how does it look? trots are pretty easy compared to a gallop ( at least from what ive done), not as much body movement, the body rises and falls in a steady rhythm in a trot, in a gallop you're rockign all over the place.

That probably helps XD Looks like you got a good start! Have you checked out Eduard Muybridge photography for reference? Soo helpful! The only reason why my trot turned out half decent, i'll have to see if I can find it and get your expert horse opinion

That looks super good! I think id make it bounce more though, just a little. I live in the middle of nowhere, so weve got a lot of amish people, id suggest looking at amish horses with their buggies, since the fastest they go is a trot, they bounce alot. And if you ride horses youll notice that too.... ya feel like a sack of potatoes on them honestly.

No idea XD a lot of on and off working. the lineing and coloring alone probably took like 6 hours though

This looks so smooth and amazing! I can see what you mean about the weight in the back though. probably could have used a little more squash when the back feet hit. I was wondering what do you use to scan in your paper for traditional animation now? I am no longer in school, I have toon boom on my computer and a cintiq but am not that savvy animating into the computer yet. So I have thought about still doing things paper wise. Just wondered. I am looking into supplies I would need now that I graduated.

This was all done in flash, from rough to clean up. But i normally shoot my animation with istopmotion.

what's istopmotion? I would love to learn more, we always used "harmony" at my college, but I have no room nor can afford one of the huge autofeed scanners they used to use for the standard animation paper. AND Supposidly they are so old they don't work with most of the new operating systems. So I had no idea how to do my traditonal animatoin anymore without drawing into the computer lol. I have done some animation in flash but I find it really hard sometimes to get it to be as fluid. AND I have trouble getting nice pointy linework for cleanup in flash.

A program for shooting animation frames XD im sure you could steal it online. lol. You just need a webcam thats compatible with it.
