I'm becoming known for commenting ages after something is posted, aren't I? XD I like this hairstyle on him, even if it's not period-appropriate. Like you said - it's Enjolras, he doesn't give a damn. It's not how I would imagine him but I do like it. And yes, like some people have said, he does look younger. Hmm, I might even like this more than some of your other versions.
Maybe my imagination is too vivid but I can see a story here. I can actually see him listening to someone and about to respond. It looks like part of an illustration.

Also, this reminds me of the line "From the thoughtfullness of his gaze one might have supposed that in some previous existence he had lived through all the turmoil of the revalution".
So, I think it looks like he's seeing something that isn't really there... And feeling slightly sympathetic towards it.

It's always neat to watch what's circulating in the Mizzy community as the latest trend in what the Amis are supposed to look like. I seem to recall a time when all Enjolrati had shoulder-length hair, and all Combeferres were brunette.

Don't know about "latest trend". I originally based Enjolras' hairstyle on Delacroix and some other 1820s/30s sources, and it took on its own life from there. I've occasionally played with his hair length based on the works of friends and a few more outre hairstyling trends in the Romantic at the time, but have otherwise just gone with whatever felt appropriate at the time as I don't image he's a slave to fashion. As for Combeferre, you can blame my version on Ford Madox Brown (I'm a tremendous pre-Raphaelite fan) and a touch of Schubert.

Makes sense. I don't think he'd care what his hair looked like as long as he could see where he was going. It's also interesting that he's the only one of the amis with a physical description beyond "bald". Woo, symbolism!

He's beutiuful, young and thoughtfull. And hís hair is less curly, which gives him a slighlty new and intressting look, adding a bit to his seriousness, maybe.

Oooh, hair looks shorter somehow - younger or older Enjolras? (Face looks very young, I'd say.) Gorgeous, as always - his expression is so pensive, so thoughtfully faraway. I also absolutely love the shading around his nose.

Sorry I'm so late getting back to you! Yes, it is a bit of a new hairstyle...I can't remember why I did this one. It's not remotely accurate, although that doesn't matter so much with Enjolras as I don't imagine he's a follower of fashion.
