A commission painting for Jay-lel He requested a pic of Sin laughing manically
So I painted Sin lounging on a pile of human skulls surrounded in flames while laughing and enjoying the death he caused. haha On a side note this was the first time I decided to try a new red acrylic called Pyrrole red...and its an amazing tone! It really hit a nice pop in the flames and when blending it with Paynes Grey blue created this rich BLOOD tone around the edges. Needless to say i was very happy with the paint and now Pyrrole will be a regular in my collection next to Alizarin crimson and Napthol red. I also felt that since the scene was warmer in nature I added Raw Umber brown to the bones instead of my ususal picks like blues or grey tones...and i kinda liked it! The brown hints gave them a more natural "boney" hue.

Ah but which do you prefer?
Would you have each paint of the rainbow, to instantly bring it out for that one piece? OR
Have the paints you need and mix it yourself to get the same result?Β
Do you limit what paints you use? I normally stick to the common ones; red, blue, yellow, brown and white ^^

I guess in a way I DO have all the colors of the rainbow in photoshop and the ease of a dropper makes it nice and simple to create just the right hue...but when im doing something traditional i find that mixing colors to get a color i want in my head is a lot better because i stumble across new colors I didnt think of before and it makes the work more organic in nature. haha so i guess in the digital format i dont mind all the colors but when im really doing it I dont want them already done for me in little bottles. In painting..mixing is one of the most fun parts!
