Description The Thunderguard MarkII - City defender Auto-Cannon is Wall mounted cannon upgraded with additional weapon's. This cannon was created during the 100 year Continental war and has been upgraded to support changing times.
The Thunderguard was created by the Australian National Guard movement, the MarkII was purchased by EU city defence program. The Thunderguard originally was designed for protection of key industrial installations critical for the war. With new war round the corner upgrades to the MarkII was done with idea of taking on heavy weapon platforms.

With a 50MM round and ability to chose between explosive and Armor piercing, The upgrades added were two heavy plasma cannons able to take down tanks and vehicles. The base was also changed to allow cannon to aim targets directly below or above cannon line of sight.

After the Battle of 54 Factory and end of war the desire to get a brand new Thundergaurd type cannon for the next war. The changes with the MarkII over MarkI have been huge, Improved weapons for modern war and power systems that allow plasma cannons. The close and long range weapon's gives great versatility to the platform and is to be set up in city's at key road or street junctions.
The previous Mark1 was a lot smaller over MakrII, power core hidden behind the turret and able to feed off power grid means loss of power is impossible keeping plasma weapons running until weapons are dismantled or destroyed

This model has used some of the techniques I picked up form the courses I been learning over the last year. This model uses aspects of smoothing and creating small details like nuts and bolts. I the design also has depth in multiple parts cuts and groves and wires and connection points. The shapes at times were complicated and interesting to work with but overall its less square and more complex than other designs as before. The model also has allowed me to work on Polly count and using new features of 3D Max and cant wait to do more in future work.

I am happy with how this ended up going and now need to look at learning textures and adding lights to the model. I am looking forward to other tutorials I have to show and learn from overall making the models more natural and life like over square and boxed like shapes have taken a huge step. I might go back and make changes later down the line but go more designs planned so its a wait and see deal.
Wanted to play around with the textures inside 3dsmax and used gold as its nice texture to look at.

Thanks Conor3DDesign
