Corvidae65 — Light! Camera! Action!

Description A truckload of cornstalk bales burns 6 miles east of O'Niell, Nebraska 11-9-2012 shutting down highway 20 for 6 hours while fire departments from O'Niell and nearby Atkinson battle the flames. The driver of the truck had unhooked the truck from the trailer and was not damaged and the driver unhurt. Thanks to the firefighting efforts the trailer was saved but the load of cornstalk hay was a total loss.

A little drama in an otherwise boring day of driving. I got tired of watching the fun from so far back so I walked up the 500 yards or so and started taking pictures. By the time I got there the firefighters had pushed the cornstalk bales off the trailer and into the side of the road and all the real drama was over. Only a couple might be worth posting.

Thank you Manwathiell it was a lot of fun to shoot. I felt bad for the driver of the truck but he got out ok and the truck and trailer were allright too so the only thing lost was a load of cornstalk bales and that's no great loss really.

There would have been more but it was a long walk in the cold night up there from my warm truck

note to self--start saving for that 70-200 f/2.8 Nikkor!

I have often thought of driving as hours and hours of pure boredom intersected with moments of vigorous adrenaline injections and abject terror I guess it's those moments that keep me going. Kinda the same way folks really *want* to see a wreck happen deep down inside thier hearts. They usually hope nobody gets or is hurt though.
