Description The second in a series of photographs looking out from the Blasket island off the coast of Kerry in Ireland. A thriving community lived here until the fifties, following a way of life that had changed little in hundreds of years. The island attracts thousands of visitors each year and the stunning colours and clear waters are part of this. The main land (Slea head) can be seen in the background. The waters are full of grey seals and 10% of the worlds population of these marvellous animals live on these coasts.

Usually about three 150 kmph storms a year so anything that has not been blown away usually is there to stay, including the visitors who come to visit or to live here, called blow ins by the locals!!

I love, high, windy places and I thought this would be just such a one.

'Been lifted into the air in the Nepal Himalayas too !
The term "Blow In" is used in some parts of Australia also.

I thought the term must have some ancient lineage, probably from an Irish translation, a great many phases in Irish are very old indeed. I like the thought of being lifted into the air...... The heights we don't have but the winds we do, and many of them... very dramatic with the big skies and the cloud-scapes of the Atlantic seaboard..
