Description From the Great Blasket, a western Isle that once had a village on it, the mainland looks tiny. The small islands that dot the peninsula's western seaboard are all mythologically famous. This was our one day of summer and the spectacular white sands reflect an almost Mediterranean colour. They are a little colder mind!

Ah, yes, but we're a little far from the sea here.
... and I miss the sound of waves, the scent of the sea on a strong wind ... and the calls of seabirds ...

I tried once to live away from the sea, it wasn't much fun and I found myself missing it too much... and that was only four hours drive!!!

there is something that awakens in us when we spend time by the sea, and it is ancient and strong...

That's so cool! The name however... I think I've heard it before unless I'm mixing it up somewhere. I think I heard it from the Irish Lady putting her two children to sleep while the ship sank in Titanic. o.o

you have a startling memory for these things.. yes you are quite correct... the fabled Tir na nΓ“g or the land of the forever young is often visited by people in mythology, it is an escape as well for those who are faced with an impossible situation... to get there you have to know a faerie or at the very least have a magic apple...

Thank you hahaha. Wow, sounds really nice. I take it to be an Irish fairytale?

it features in most of them... it is of course where the TuΓ‘tha de Danaan live a mighty bunch with a penchant for stealing mortal woman and taking them off for a life of debauchery and sins of the flesh.. after which they rarely wanted to return the the damp huts of their husbands!

It would be lovely to spend a year on an island like that.
