it's already not all the harmful, legalized it can be regulated. meaning you aren't gonna get laced shit and would reduce the few risks to using it.
and alcohol is addictive and too much can seriously harm or kill you, while weed isn't addictive and sure, smoking a lot might fuck you up a little but it's not gonna kill you.
personally, I often smoke it with my friends because I have depression and anxiety and this is one of the few things that actually help. that and being stoned is just really fucking great.

And never mind the people who get high on pot.
How about the people who have chronic, debilitating pain?? They can get prescribed things like Oxycontin which is MORPHINE and is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE and leaves you off your fuckin' face all the time, to the point where you can't live your life normally, but apparently a bit of natural plant-based medicine is totally unacceptable.
Well, fuck me then.

Alcohol has damaged my life too, albeit indirectly. The Prohibition was probably a good idea at the time. Maybe a little weed might make everything better. Not sure what McDonald's has to do with anything though.

Well the biggest flaw with the Gateway Drug theory is the fact that it claims that drug use use "harder" drugs because of Marijuana.
this doesn't work because.
1. Some people didn't even use Marijuana before the "hard" drugs.
2. The Law of Diminishing Return, which states that if a commodity is used repeatedly, especially in a short amount of time, the psychological effects that object has (such as the feeling of being refreshed after drinking a cool glass of lemonade on a hot day) will decrease. As such the "Buzzed" hugh the user of Marijuana feels will decrease and wanting to regain the feeling they will try ANYTHING that will recreate that feeling.
Besides if Marijuana is legalized the Government could tax it, economically it makes more sense to legalize it than ban it.

I would have never gotten into using "harder" drugs if I didnt start smoking weed. I would think they are as horrible as people say and I wouldnt even know the people to get them from, since I wouldnt smoke weed and wouldnt meet shady people. Same story with my friends.
In my opinion (and case) marijuana is definitely a gateway drug for many people.

SpyroTailz In reply to General-Spitfire32 [2016-08-09 18:12:39 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. Some people think smoking cannabis once leads to some kind of desire to take harder drugs automatically. Some think that cannabis is not a gateway drug at all. Both are wrong and like you said its more complicated than that

I'm ashamed to say when I was younger, I was addicted to alchohol. Not that I took shots all the time or anything, but I accidently drank some, thinking it was juice or something. I would always feel depressed or "groggy" afterwords. And my parents are telling me to drink at 21 like it's a necessity.

Does anyone else thinks that its kind of ironic that most people who support the legalization of marijuana also say that they want to protect the environment, the planet and such yet more people smoking weed, tobacco or using e cigarettes on the streets means more air pollution?

Weed should be reserved for people who actually need it, like war veterans and cancer patients. If you have a headache then take some fucking asprin. Stick to the tabacco. Those other diseases seem weed-worthy.

Why should you have to earn the right to have something good without getting lung cancer/liver damage/etc.? Why should only some people be allowed to have a drug that doesn't harm their bodies?

fuckshiru In reply to binarystep [2014-05-20 20:32:06 +0000 UTC]
Since weed ''dosen't hurt you'' and ''it's good for you'', it's should be something you earn. It's already legal to have weed for a medical reason. And I heard on the news that that war veterans are being allowed marijuana.
To your second question, because those ''some people'' are either dying or almost died.

binarystep In reply to fuckshiru [2014-05-21 05:39:33 +0000 UTC]
So basically, if you aren't dying, you "don't deserve" the right to feel good at no cost, is that it?

''Feel good''? Really? There are million other ways to feel good besides weed.
And why are you not up to the idea of earning something? I not trying to insult you, but are you a person who smokes weed and hasn't had amything besides that. Drugs Weed should only be taken for medical reasons.

Why should you have to earn a plant that grows in the ground?
I have only smoked weed once.

What's with you and your metaphors? Weed is no regular plant. And to answer your question, getting high can ease out terminal diseases. Being in the war, can caused trauma beyond anti-depressants. The law says any drug should be taken for a medical reason, and it should stay that way.
It's not weed that kills you, it's what you do with it that does.

Metaphors? I have used no metaphors in my speech.
The law written by a council of old white men is obviously far superior to scientific evidence of weed being harmless. Yes, that makes perfect sense.
