Evidently there is a sizable market for adult coloring books. I was in a bookstore recently -- don't recall where -- and there was an entire table devoted to them.

I didn't know it either until I saw them in the bookstore. I had seen one somewhere about a year ago but not a whole table full. (I tried itΒ HERE )Β It makes sense though.Β Fun. Relaxing. Even meditative (?) -- the zen of coloring. And, as you say, cool for you to see your line work, you might say "interpreted" by someone else.

that's cool! you made the collage scanned it, made it b&w, printed it and colored it? great idea! i might have to try something like that.
i think of coloring complicated line art as making it "make sense." it's quite like what you say...interpreting it.Β
i think it is definitely meditative. you have to concentrate but not come up with any coherent or meaningful ideas.
one of my favorite things about art is playing with playing with color, so it's perfect. it's a great excuse for buying pens and pencils, too!
