Cheers. It did take a while to get the right effect of blood. Not just a case of painting on red. It's not exactly what I had in mind, but close enough.

Damn, I just love the texture of this piece. The blood actually looks like it has that thicker-than-water consistency. And the colors + concept + lighting is marvelous.

Thanks for that.
You're the first to pick up on the 'thick' blood. I spent ages trying to get that effect, cheers.
Like the web cam btw, made me chortle.

Poor little Kudu.

Great painting love the emotion behind it.
Makes me so sick to see such beautiful amazing creatures hung on walls starring with glass emotionless eyes.

Hmm you know you come across great work when you admire the work yet feel pissy because of it.

You want blood sports to be legal then? You do surprise me!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ophelianymph In reply to crhino [2008-09-13 21:34:03 +0000 UTC]

I dont know, everyone thinks i have weird opinions on the subject i guess i do.

I've helped with the bringing up of foxhound puppies( not taking them in myself, but with friends) so i learnt alot more about foxhunting, i was always 100% against it until i got on the inside. I wouldn't do it myself, but the hounds do eat the fox alot of the time, i dont agree with shooting for people to just leave it afterwards, but if they sell it or eat it themselves or feed it to their pets, im totally for that.

I think the 'meat' food industry is a much crueler place.

Im tired, i'll shut up or i dont make sense ( not that i do anyway?!)

crhino In reply to ophelianymph [2008-09-18 03:00:25 +0000 UTC]

You! Weird? Surely not?

You still surprise me, from all that you've said before.
Why do foxes need culling? Because they APPARENTLY eat their other stock that is reared for killing as well!

There are more town foxes than country foxes, yet we don't seem to be over-run with them. Most people never even see them, and who would clean up all those kebabs, if not for them?
Most only live 2/3 yrs, so how much harm can they do. If they become extinct, it will be a great loss. We're so over sanitized, that we must eliminate all the top predators. Look what happened to the wolf, and we know how wrong people were about that!

Find a solution, not a remedy! When I had ants in the kitchen, I simply put a teaspoon of sugar on the other side of their nest. Problem solved! Yet most people resort to boiling water or poisons, which will never work, as their nests are so deep and hundreds of yrs old. You won't wipe them out! It's ignorance and a lack of understanding about what the animal is actually about. Why do foxes pester these land owners? Because they breed their food! And they breed them only for more blood sport!
Sorry, but you won't persuade me.

ophelianymph In reply to crhino [2008-10-20 22:30:31 +0000 UTC]

Its not that, i mean i dont believe in anything being killed but thats my point, i get agree at them banning little things and blowing the facts out of proportion..the dogs are fed on mainly raw diet and alot of the time there isnt much meat left on the fox, half the time they never catch them, why ban this but don't ban mass produced meat?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

crhino In reply to ophelianymph [2008-10-23 00:37:38 +0000 UTC]

Because they are doing it for pleasure. How difficult is it to make a fence 'fox proof'? Not difficult really!
And most of what they complain about foxes killing, is the other game that they also breed for blood sport!
Do you also advocate Badger baiting now?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ophelianymph In reply to crhino [2008-10-26 21:51:28 +0000 UTC]

Nope i dont advocate any of them, but i think unless you dont support animal testing or unnecessary slaughter of animals...then, quit moaning!
And all the farmers i know, around 99% of them agree with and them or their families take part in fox hunting or other types of hunting. You could say that if you buy your meat from farmers you dont know...your support hunting in a way....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

crhino In reply to ophelianymph [2008-10-26 23:18:56 +0000 UTC]

So basically, if we're a meat eater, then we might as well be cruel to all animals, as we're already being cruel?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ophelianymph In reply to crhino [2008-10-27 10:47:53 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't want you to, but its better than letting someone else do it and you pay for it!

pepperw [2008-05-22 01:42:17 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, brings about memories of poor little me with nothing but a tiny little piece of copper and lead and a skinny piece of metal and wood pitted against a huge deadly ferocious man eating herbivore with it's razor sharp teeth and huge death-wielding horns and hooves. I narrowly avoided (by 300 yards or so) being another in the terrifying creature's long list of victims. Many a blade of grass will be thankful that it was I who survived this harrowing encounter.
To be totally honest, I'd much rather have one of your paintings of an animal on my wall than a real animal killed only for a trophy.

Ravenhaven In reply to crhino [2008-04-24 03:01:41 +0000 UTC]

Oh crap! I meant to say "painting”. While living in Texas, I had many friends who love to go hunting on the weekends. I use go with them, but I would take my sketchpad and watercolors and sketch what I saw instead.

crhino In reply to Ravenhaven [2008-04-24 16:11:08 +0000 UTC]

I'm not that righteous, that I am against all hunting. I eat meat after all, so I would be a hypocrite.
I'm just against hunting for trophies. Hunting with a camera or sketch pad, is by far the best way to do it.

Good. That's what I hoped for. It will probably only have an effect on people who already agree with it anyway. I can't see it changing any hunter's opinion.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

drewrew In reply to crhino [2008-04-23 19:58:23 +0000 UTC]

My guess, they're sexually frustrated so they need to carry around a big stick to remind them of thier manhood. Any sick, twisted person that admits to getting a kick out of removing the life from an innocent animal deserves to have his nuts crushed with a spork!
