Wow! The shade from the glasses is the best part of this drawing, in my opinion

Amazing! The shadow cast by the sunglasses really sells the realism. Such a perfect portrait

Thank you for the nice comment. Drawing this was something special. A muse must have gripped me, otherwise I can't explain the courage for dark colours that I had there. ^^

Isn't that a great feeling? I love when one looks at one's artwork and thinks "I did that? Wow!"

Yes, the works that evoke that feeling are the best in most cases. ^^

no worries how did you make this piece??

Crida In reply to 3Dmaxinator [2012-12-26 11:22:53 +0000 UTC]

I made a sketch with a hard pencil first. Then I coloured it with copics and Letraset promarkers. I started with the skin, with a very light yellow, because this is why I wanted to draw it in the first place. I was very fascinated by the colours the morning sunlight created on the skin of the girl. Then I probably went on to the hair, then drew the glasses, the shadow from the glasses and went back to improving the hair. The background came last. These stone walls almost killed me, it took me all the little patience I had left. You can probably tell that I got lazy. xD
Thank you for asking! Not many people ask this kind of questions.

What do you mean exactly? I didn't use coloured pencils for this picture.
Do you mean the use of coloured pencils on marker?

I love the outline, proportions, lights and shadows but think you gotta study colour deeper; not all shadows are grey, brown or a neutral colour. Honestly, I used to have this problem with colour quite a lot but it changed with studying colour theory, practice and having a great teacher to show me how to observe colours more deeply. Oh I forgot to mention that colours seen with the naked eyes are far better than those taken from a photograph; you can still use the photo for a reference but don't forget to observe colours in reality and how they keep changing in different conditions

Crida In reply to Yasmin88 [2012-09-05 21:31:31 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the advice! I know, colours are never the same on the photograph and if I got deeper into photography, I would see that no super awesome camera can capture all the real colours. The human eye is still the best device.

You are right, I have a lot to learn about colour theory, but to defend myself: I have a limited amount of markers so I used what I could to provide the possibly best result.

It's ok I'm not attaching you with my criticism . Anyway you can blend colors if you have a blending marker
