Target Night Raven

Part 1 - The New Recruit

Night Raven smiled as she slinked towards the pile of wooden crates in the center of the abandoned warehouse, the sun faded wood imprinted with large letters that indicated the crates were full of high powered weapons. The leggy heroine was looking quite lovely as she normally did, her purple and black costume clinging to her feminine frame like a second skin, the body suit she wore cut high on her hips while it left almost her entire back and her toned shoulders uncovered. She wore a pair of purple opera length finger-less gloves that fit her toned arms quite nicely, and her athletic legs were accented by a pair of stylish black high heeled over the knee boots. Her boot heels clicked softly off of the old concrete floor as she walked a bit closer to the boxes, taking a quick look around to ensure that all of her enemies were down for the count. While Night Raven wasn't a heavy hitter by any means, her special phasing powers allowed her to sneak up on her enemies quite effectively, and though she was regarded as one of the weaker members of the Legion of Super Heroines, she was still a very tactful and capable fighter, one that relied more on her brains and her powers of stealth to get the drop on the bad guys. Several men in full tactical combat armor were scattered around her in various forms of unconsciousness. Night Raven had used an effect hit and run attack, using her powers to phase through the walls and the floor, frustrating her enemies as their bullets hit nothing but air and ricocheted off the walls and floor.

The lovely heroine ran a hand through her silky black hair as she finally reached the box, a thoughtful look crossing her masked face as she considered the ramifications of opening the top crate. "Could be booby trapped..." She thought out loud as she let her fingertips trace over the smooth wooden surface, the heroine finally giving a shrug as she popped the latches on the top of the crate loose and slowly raised the top up so she could have a look inside. "It's....empty??" Night Raven was confused as she realized the crate she was staring into was void of any contents, no powerful weapons of destruction there for her to find as her informant had told her. A chill ran down her spine as she realized this had the look and smell of an all to obvious trap. "Damn it...I should have been more careful..." She let the crate close with a loud thud and quickly turned around, her head on a swivel and her muscles tense as she expected a trap to be sprung at any moment. Instead she heard applause coming from above her, the dark haired heroine glancing upward, her eyes going wide behind her mask as she spotted a tall red haired woman gazing down at her from a nearby catwalk. The woman was dressed in a dark red costume that left little to the imagination about her goddess like beauty, her long flowing red hair fluttering about her head as she slipped over the railing of the catwalk and gracefully glided down to the floor, landing with a soft click of her dark red thigh high boots.

"Well done Night Raven...you easily passed your test...as I knew you would..." The redhead smiled and started to walk slowly towards the purple clad heroine, letting her emerald green eyes trace up and down her enticing form. "Crim...Crimson??" Night Raven was almost speechless as she took in the tall woman in front of her, her own eyes taking in the Crimson Valkyrie's lovely charms as she scanned her over, though her eyes went wide as they settled on the circular emblem that sat between Crimson's lovely bosom. "The Lambda Syndicate...so the rumors were true..." Night Raven said, her voice almost a scared whisper as she took in the logo emblazoned across Crimson's armored breast plate. "The Legion...they said you were kidnapped, that Madam Nyx had somehow brainwashed you..." Night Raven took a nervous step backward, wondering what her options were. In terms of super powers and physical strength, she didn't stand a chance against Crimson, and if she were truly an operative for the Lambda Syndicate, Night Raven was in trouble. "Over exaggerations I assure you..." Crimson said thoughtfully as she smiled at Night Raven. "I have joined Madam Nyx on my own accord...she has plans to protect us from the coming war on our kind...a war the Legion overlooks as they are all tied up in political red tape." Night Raven looked at the former heroine with a dumbfounded look. "Crimson what are you talking about? Madam Nyx is evil!"

"Please...it is Lambda Valkyrie now...though when we are in private you can still call me Crimson..." One of the redhead's hands slipped down, coming to rest on the butt of one of her powerful magical pistols. "In truth Night Raven, I set up this meeting...I wanted to ensure that your skills were still as sharp as I remembered them being, and you did not let me down..." Night Raven continued to pack pedal, looking to her left and right for any possible escape route. "There is no use in trying to run...you know how fast I am...and I would prefer not having to engage you in combat..." Crimson grinned, almost as if she could read the younger heroine's mind. "I have come to ask you to join me Night Raven, you and I always were close, and even if the Legion never sees it, I have always known your potential and admired your intelligence and tactful mind." Night Raven was stunned, her body stiffening a bit at Crimson's words. "Join you? With the Lambda Syndicate? There's no way!! They are evil!! Crimson what happened to you!!?" The redhead gave a sigh and shook her head. "Evil is all in your perspective Night Raven, and given that the Legion has sheltered you, they have never allowed you to see Madam Nyx's true intentions. She simply wishes to unite us under a common banner, so that when the humans inevitably turn against us, we will have a safe place. I am her huntress...and I need a good woman to watch my back, hence why I am here for you...please don't make this hard, you know how much I adore you..."

Night Raven let her mind wander for a bit as she considered Crimson's words. Most of what the Valkyrie said was true, and she could very fondly recall the times she had spent with the amazing red head. She wasn't quite sure what Crimson had seen in her, but she had come to know the brilliant heroine as a humble and comforting presence, the heroine never getting a big head despite being one of the most powerful beings on the planet. Their friendship had blurred the lines of romance, though Night Raven had never quite allowed herself to become committed, her duties as a super heroine sometimes coming between the feelings she and Crimson had shared for one another. Crimson had been understanding, but that hadn't stopped the two of them from enjoying some rather steamy and intimate nights with one another, both in and out of costume. "Crimson...I....I can't...I have to report to the Legion, maybe we can help you...bring you back to your senses..." Without another word Night Raven phased out of view and dropped through the concrete floor down to the warehouse's main level. Her boots had barely touched the ground when she took off in a sprint, running for the loading dock's main doors. "I have to get out of here...warn the others...Crimson I'm sorry..." Night Raven exploded through the loading dock doors and felt the cool night air against her face and the skin her costume left exposed. "ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!" She had only made it about three steps when the volley of stun bolts slammed into her back and sent her flying forward, the muscles in her body relaxing instantly from Crimson's magical energy blasts, consciousness leaving the young raven haired heroine as she crashed to the concrete.
