Description This is done as a rough sketch for an English art Assingment...

This picture is symbolic, I suppose you can say. The man on the left being held by demons is Shlomo Wiesel, and the person to the right is Elie Wiesel, his son. In Elie Wiesel's book "Night" (which is about the Holocaust), Elie becomes pretty desensitized by his ordeals in the concentration camps. But, one thing seemed to survive. He never wanted to be separated from his father. Thus the rope inbetween them. Symbolizes their attachment. Near the end of the book, however, Shlomo is getting extremely old and sick, and Elie is having difficulty taking care of him. The demons holding the father symbolize the evils that threaten to tear Elie and his father apart. Of course, the both of them are held together by that bond. But, Elie had begun considering other things... If his father dies, he would no longer have to spend a lot of his effort trying to take care of him; he'd have a better chance of surviving without him. This is portrayed by the dark figure over Elie's head, with the knife in hand ready to destroy that attachment, black, born of the eternal night he felt he was experiencing. Elie, of course, is ashamed of this thought, and is trying to stop him. On the father's side is the flames of the crematorium, and on Elie's side is the smoke; a barbed wire fence in the distance.

Oh... my god.... this is so amazing! And for Night! This completly and utterly owns my assignment.

I'm sorry. I really have no words to describe how great this is. And only a rough sketch too!

That book was amazing. Just the way it's so frank about everything. No sugar-coating, no nonsense.

"Never shall I forget the little faces of the children, whose bodies I saw turned into wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue sky."

Yeah... I loved reading Night. usually, when I'm given an English assignment that involves reading and annotating a book, I'm like "Oh GAWD." But, this book really made me think.

My teacher's making us watch Elie Wiesel and Oprah tomorrow. YAY!

Night was really the best book that we read. Much better than To Kill a Mockingbird in my opinion. I heard it started around 800 pages, but was simply too long for the publisher.

Aww... we didn't watch Oprah... we watched him at like a 70's or 80's seminar at a college or something.
