Description

Lately I started doing sketches when I watch TV (bad combination, I know) and whatever is not absolutely cringeworthy shall be shared.

Please treat it as what it is, though - a sketch. Some things might be rough, some things might be wrong.

The title "Take Two" has multiple meanings here:

It was the second couple drawing I made on my run of sketches - and the second one the elementarist project (you can find the first one here ). The I messed up the original sketch so hard I had to make a trace of it (I finally have one of these cool light pads that make this fairly easy) - so this is basically the second iteration of the drawing.

And finally, of course, it's two people. My favourite pair of twins, Melvin and Dorean, somewhere in their teens (aroung 15 - 16 or something...). I'm still trying to finalize everyone's looks, but I got bored of plain character studies. So I wanted them to interact - show a bit of their personalities, practice facial expressions, hands and so on...

Melvin (white hair) is an introvert who constantly struggles to keep a grip on his life. Dorean (black hair - surprise!) on the other hand loves being the center of attention and often pushes other people beyond their limits (as an attempt to overcome them and therefore grow). So in a dynamic situation, I imagined that Dorean surprises his brother on taking a funny picture. Melvin is not really comfortable with the situation, but he'd do anything for his brother, so he tags along and tries not to look too stressed out. They're very close, after all.

I think this is the first time I'm quite satisfied with both their looks - I think they even resemble each other a little! And Melvin's eyes are just tough stuff to make them look unnatural, yet not creepy - and still allow expression. Many first world problems here that the viewers maybe can't even see...

Anyways, looking at this makes me happy.

Tools: pencil on somewhat fine, but normal paper. Cleaning in Affinity Photo.
