Description

Ever since I discovered Blind Channel thanks to ESC 2021, I got somewhat obsessed with the band. They struck a nerve. Some of their inspired me to create pictures with some original characters since the lyrics seemed fitting to them. Here's No. 6:

"[...]

I'm more than just a man
I'm something worse
A demon rising from a pile of dirt
I never repent, or learn
Got problems too big to fit in a church
Hating me for the things I've done?
Just wait til you see what I'm going to do
I've got a tongue like a machine gun
When the sermon starts, you better run

People are evil, you hide it or not
Seats in cathedrals are trending like drugs
Your idols betray you
Your heroes will fail you
'Cause we are no saints
We are no saints
No

Bless me father, I've been bad
When I told a priest, he had a panic attack
Guess Heaven won't have me...
What's the plan?
I can't go to Hell
The Hell is packed
Call me a bitter little (liar)
You're preaching to the choir
Put up a pyre
But I'm taking everyone with me in the fire

Saints go marching in
I see through your secrets
Corrupted and two-faced
Saints go marching in
If you ever look down on me
It'll be the last thing you see

People are evil, you hide it or not
Seats in cathedrals are trending like drugs
Your idols betray you
Your heroes will fail you
'Cause we are no saints
We are no saints
No

Heaven or Hell, you'll be covered in mud
The end of the rainbow is colored in blood
Your idols betray you
Your heroes will fail you
'Cause we are no saints
We are no saints
No

[...]"

Listen to the song here if you like.

This is the only picture from this series including characters from my Khara project and not the elementarists. Because no character of the latter would fit into that song, but it's Brick and Nemo from Khara all over. These are the names they're called by, not their real ones. They're two sides of a coin ... or a brain ... or whatever, something like that. Not exactly twins, neither clones, but yes, they look the same. To tell them apart, I thought Nemo should basically lack facial expression and "life" to his eyes. Both of them own great powers, godlike even: Nemo is a genius who can create anything and basically bend the world to his will; Brick is a great empath who can't control his power as well, but anything he wishes for comes true.

Yet, they're - more or less - mere humans with their faults. So their whole struggle revolves around the "right" use of their powers - intention, amount, timing, results etc. Of course it leads to conflicts, because they literally are no saints and at some point they might realize that they created their own hell and are dragging everyone with them.

Nemo always slightly overpowers Brick and tries to keep him in control, that's why I chose that pose where he kinda dominates. The rainbow is basically a divider between them that I just took as an inspiration from the lyrics - no further meaning to that.

And since I got tired of "no backgrounds" since the last picture, I caused another one here, though a somewhat simple one. Resembling halos, the blue sign on the left is a simplified common sign for the throat chakra which I know as the intellectual center (continued by the third eye and crown, don't get me wrong) and the green one is a common sign for the heart chakra, the emotional center. Applies to the main subject of the respective characters.

So it's not much, but I put some thought into it.

As for the whole series, the paper I painted on is absolutely unforgiving when I try to take a photo in good focus - it keeps on being blurry. And it's too big to scan. So I'm terribly sorry for blurs and quality losses. I tried my best.

Material: Watercolour, Coloured pencils, acrylic white

Brick and Nemo are original characters and belong to me.
