thanks, and also thank you for handling my criticism of your recent ROM related upload so gracefully. as you can see i like to create fan art with ROM that features him with other marvel characters that he appeared with during his run and others he never did but should have.

I appreciate criticism and as I noted I wasn't particularly impressed with my own work on the poster.
To give the guy some justice I'm trying to make another picture, trying to stick to his original design

right on, looking forward to what you come up with. admittedly i'm a pretty harsh critic in general and especially when it comes to ROM related fan art. in the absence of any cooperation from marvel and hasbro on the rights issue for the character fan art is the only thing ROM fans have to look forward to these days.
i've never been open to drastic re-interpretations to ROM as well (here's a good example of that www.deviantart.com/art/ROM-Tri⦠) although other more subtle re-interpretations with his armor like this one works for me santi-ikari.deviantart.com/art⦠ the other thing so much of the ROM fan art out there just features ROM in some kind of action pose which is getting to be tedious. i really like work that has some imagination to it as you can see from my gallery just about everything features ROM with other characters or like this one with him fighting the brood which never actually happened during his series run.

Great work as usual, and also great improvement. As youΒ΄re not obsessed with muscle, Rom looks like a metallic statue,
which fits his robotic form and make him more real.

Its good, but i think while RomΒ΄s muscles must be strong, they donΒ΄t need to be
exxagerated, like with pumping veins or anything. I saw here in Brazil once a metallic Rom
statue that looked like a car hood ornament, almost like an Oscar, and his arms
werenΒ΄t too muscular. Guess the artist took inspiration on the Silver Surfer.

Here in Brazil some artists can get away in doing some lesser known character statues
and not be detected by copyright authorities who are just too dumb to recognize them.

thanks i'm glad you like what I've been cranking out in recent weeks. this one in particular came out surprisingly well. probably one of the things that has me motivated to doing this stuff is because i'm just so under whelmed with the ROM related fan art that's turned up in recent months. it's always the same ol same ol with ROM in some action pose or floating in space with his neutralizer. i'm not kidding just look at all the recent stuff that's been posted here on deviant art it's always the same old shit. I've had this concept of a ROM vs The Brood in my head for a long time but just never got around to it. then I saw not to long ago some other guy who did that concept but it was just some cheap slapped together cookie cutter digital art. so then I new it was time to put pencil to paper and do the concept justice at the cost of sounding immodest I think I pulled it off here.

i actually i keep an eye out on all the ROM related fan art out there and there's actually quite a bit with something new turning up nearly every week. the problem is almost all of it isn't very good in my opinion. it's mostly just drawings of his head or of him flying in space or other such unimaginative themes. speaking of the Transformers U.K. i think i have something here that will interest youΒ pleasesavemerobots.blogspot.coβ¦

and i have seen some X-Men back issues where the brood were using personal energy discharge weapons as well. i had a thought to arming some of the brood in the sketch for drama's sake but i don't at the end it just felt cooler to have ROM blasting and bashing his way through a horde of brood.

i'm glad you also mentioned the out smarting part. after all he did trick Galactus into trying to consume wraith world which nearly killed Galactus and in doing so saved Galador. he's not called greatest of the spaceknights for no reason. it's a real fucken shame marvel and hasbro just can't seem to get their shit together and hammer out a deal to get ROM back in the marvel universe because all the ROM related stories marvel keeps trying to write just gets stupider. as stupid as that ROM hermugg doll hasbro came out with last year. i make it a point to not buy any new stuff from either company just on general principle.

well i was a big MOTU fan back in the day during the first two series of toys and mini-comics. after that the stuff they kept coming out with started getting lame to me. i just recently read the entire first and second mini-comic run online it brought back some great memories. that trade from Dark Horse that reprints the series doesn't come out till October i didn't feel like waiting that long. somebody had posted a the opening page from a Greek addition of ROM #1.

Man,that's so cool to hear,I have but a few greek issues with Rom,he was published in a weekly black and white edition of Spider-man.The annuals were published in full colour normal size again in a greek edition of Spider-man,i still have annuals#1-#2.Another interesting thing to note is,since he was published in spidey's book we missed virtually all of Rom's covers,i managed to see them years later in the web.
