I love your pose here but I'm not enthusiastic about the way your processed the photo if you don't mind I say so. You have beautiful - uncommon - eyes, with a pale skin and dark hair and that is itself enough to make a very striking portrait. I've looked at some simple portraits you have on your myspace page and I think that the simpler is the better. I think that with a skin and eyes like yours you could try some "high key" portraits : bright light, white skin, translucent green/blue eyes and dark hair....It should work very very well.

I was just trying something different. I got tired of feeling like my gallery was all plain self portraits that were nothing spectacular. As I still am tired of that.

To be honest, this picture doesn't seem cold or piercing to me. It seems more light and fluffy... I think it might be the texture that you have on it. Without that, it would seem more cold to me; otherwise, your eyes, as always, are pretty piercing. But, yeah, I think the 'weightlessness' of the texture seems to detract from that, in my opinion at least. Please don't hate me for critiquing!! It's still an amazing work of art, it just doesn't seem to convey what you want it to...

I love critiques, so I do not mind it at all. Thank you for your insight. That is just what I saw it as after I edited it. But the piercing was referring to my eyes.

This is excellent - and a little different for you. You captured your eyes very well and the pose communicates the feel you were looking for. You're really good at capturing the guarded but on the verge of revelation mood - "I want to reveal myself to you but I need to know you won't hurt me." The texture you used makes it appear more "hopeful" this time around - less dark.
